To thread a Singer 5528 sewing machine, follow these steps:
1. Raise the presser foot – This opens the tension discs. 2. Turn off the machine – For safety. 3. Raise the needle – Turn the handwheel toward you until the needle is at its highest point. 4. Place the spool – Put your thread spool on the spool pin and secure it with a spool cap if needed. 5. Guide the thread – Pull the thread from the spool and follow these steps: - Bring it through the upper thread guide at the top. - Pull it down the right side of the tension mechanism (front of the machine). - Loop it around the tension discs. - Bring it up on the left side into the take-up lever from right to left. - Pull it down again into any thread guides along the needle bar. 6. Thread the needle – Pass the thread through the needle eye from front to back. 7. Pull up the bobbin thread – Hold the top thread, turn the handwheel to lower and raise the needle. The needle will catch the bobbin thread. Pull both threads under and to the back of the presser foot.
