Secondary services

Certain radio stations carry additional services, known as secondary services. This
facility enables broadcasters to provide up to date coverage of major events in
addition to coverage provided by the main station.
These services are dynamic and can be turned on and off to suit coverage of major
sporting or, for example parliamentary events.
At the time this booklet was produced secondary services were only available on
BBC 5 Live.
To tune into a secondary service proceed as follows:-
1. Tune into BBC 5 Live.
2. The secondary service will appear below the main station indented to the right.
3. Rotate the tuning control until the secondary service (e.g. Sports+) appears in
the tuning window.
4. Press in and release the tuning control to confirm the selection.
5. Secondary services can be preset as previously described. The only limitation
being when recalling a preset secondary service that is no longer available; in
this case the radio will tune to the parent station that was originally carrying the
secondary service.
