ATSC
Acronym that stands for Advanced Television
SystemsCommittee and the name of the
digital broadcasting standards.
Aspect Ratio
The width ofa TV screen relative to its
height. Conventional TVs are 4:3 (in
other words, the screen is almost square);
widescreen models are 16:9 (the screen is
almost twice aswide as its height).
Dolby Digital
The system developed by Dolby Labora-
tories to compress digital sound. It offers
stereo sound (2ch) or multi-channel audio.

Ultimate digital format that produces high
resolution and high picture quality.
NTSC
Acronym that stands for National Television
Systems Committee and the name of the
current analog broadcasting standards,
Password
A stored 4-digit number that allows access
to parental control features.
Region Code
Regions associate discs and players with
particular areas of the world, this unit will
only play back discs that have compatible
region codes.You can find the region code
of your unit by looking on the rear panel.
Some discs are compatible with more than
one region (or all regions).
SDTV (standard definition TV)
Standard digital format that is similar to the
NTSC picture quality.

powercord.

unplugthe powercordandcallour tollfreecustomer s upportline found on
thecover of thismannalto locatean authorizedservice center.

Color e rrorsoccur w henthere isany excess m agnetism close to theunit.
Thiscircuitisdesigned to operateoncewhentheunit isfirst pluggedin. If
youseeminorcolorerrorsonthescreen, u nplugthe unitforapproximately
30 minutes. W henyouplugthe unit again,thedegaussing c ircuitwill
operateto clearerrors.Takethisstepanytime theTVscreen isaccidentally
magnetized orwhenyoumovethe unit.

surfaces of thediscs.

•Wipethediscina straightlinefromcenter to edge.
•Neverwipewith a circular m otion.
•Donot usedetergentorabrasivecleaning agents.
If the remotecontrol i s notworkingproperly, youcanusean AMradioor
digitalcamera(including a cellular phonewith built-incamera)toseeif it
issendingoutan infraredsignal.
•With an AM radio:
Tunethe AMradiostationto a non-broadcasting
frequency.Pointtheremotecontrol t owardsit,
pushanybuttonandlisten. If thesoundfromthe
radioflutters,it isreceiving the remotecontrol's
infraredsignal.
• With a digital camera
(including built-incellphone
cameras)
Pointa digitalcamera
towards the remotecontrol.
Push any buttononthe
remotecontrolandlook
through the digitalcamera.
If the infraredlight appears
through the camera, t he
remotecontrolisworking.
