SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS - Readbeforeoperatingequipment
Thisproduct w as designed and manufactured to meetstrictqualityand
safetystandards. Thereare, however, s omeinstallation a nd operation
precautions whichyoushould beparticularly awareof.
1.
ReadInstructions - Allthe safety and operating i nstructions should
bereadbefore theappliance i soperated.
2.
RetainInstructions - The safety and operatinginstructions should
beretained for future reference.
3.
HeedWarnings - Allwarnings o ntheappliance a ndintheoperating
instructions should beadhered t o.
4.
FollowInstructions - Alloperating anduseinstructions s hould be
followed.

Water andMoisture - Theappliance should notbeusednearwater
- for example, neara bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink,laundry tub,
ina wetbasement or neara swimming p ool, e tc.

Carts and Stands - Theappliance s hould beusedonlywitha cartor
stand thatisrecommended bythemanufacturer.

An appliance and cartcombination s houldbe moved
with care. Quickstops,excessive force, and uneven
surfaces maycause theappliance andcartcombination
to overturn.

Wall or CeilingMounting - Theappliance shouldbemounted to a
wallor ceiling onlyas recommended b ythemanufacturer.
8.
Ventilation - Theappliance s hould besituated sothatitslocation or
position doesnot interfere withitsproper ventilation. Forexample,
the appliance s hould notbe situated on a bed,sofa,rug, or similar
surfacethat may blockthe ventilation openings; o r, placedin a
built-in installation, suchasa bookcase or cabinet t hatmayimpede
theflowofairthrough theventilation o penings.

Heat - The appliance shouldbesituated awayfrom hearsources
such as radiators,heat registers,stoves,or :otherappliances
(including a mplifiers) thatproduceheat.
10. Power Sources- The appliance shouldbeconnected to a power
supply onlyofthetype described i ntheoperating i nstructions oras
marked ontheappliance.
11. Power-CordProtection- Powersupply cordsshould be routed so
thattheyare notlikelyto bewalked onor pinched byitemsplaced
uponor againstthem, payingparticular attention to cordsand
plugs, convenience receptacles, andthepointwheretheyexitfrom
theappliance.
12. Cleaning - Theappliance s hould becleaned onlyas recommende_'
bythemanufacturer.
13. PowerLines - An outdoor antenna shouldbe located awayfrom
powerlines.
14. Outdoor A ntenna Grounding - If anoutside antenna is connected to
the receiver, b e sure the antennasystemis grounded soas to
provide someprotection a gainst v oltage surges and builtup static
charges.
Section 810of theNational Electric C ode, A NSI/NFPA No.70-1984,
provides i nformation w ithrespect to propergrounding ofthe mats
and supporting structuregroundingof the lead-inwire to an
antenna discharge unit,sizeof grounding connectors, location of
antenna-discharge unit, connection t o grounding electrodes and
requirements f orthegrounding e lectrode. SeeFig.below.
15. Non-use Periods - The powercord of the appliance shouldbe
unplugged f rom the outletwhenleft unused for a longperiod of
time.
16. Object andLiquidEntry- Careshould be takensothatobjects do
not fall and liquidsare not spilledinto the enclosure through
openings.
17. Damage Requiring Service- Theapplianceshould be servicedby
qualified service personnel when:
A. Thepower s upply cordortheplughasbeendamaged; or
B. Objects have fallen, or liquid has been spilled into the
appliance; or
C. Theappliance h asbeenexposed torain;or
D. Theappliance d oesnot appear t o operate normally o r exhibits
a marked change in performance; or
E. Theapplianc e hasbeendropped, or theenclosure damaged.
18. Servicing - The user shouldnot attemptto service theappliance
beyond that described in the operatinginstructions. A ll other
servicing shouldbe referred toqualifiedservice personnel.
Note to the CATVsysteminstaller: This reminderis provided to call the
CATV system installer's attention to Article 820-40 of the NEC that
providesguidelinesfor propergroundingand, in particular,specifies that
the cable ground shall be connected to the grounding system of the
building, as closeto the pointof cableentryas practical.
