Installation or replacement of the hard disk drives

Before installing the hard disk drives, turn off the power of this recorder first. When replacing the hard disk drives, the procedures
will be same as those of installation. When installing or replacing the hard disk drives for playback use only, perform the link pro-
cess.

Install the hard disk drives

Step 1
Remove the HDD bracket screws (x2) on the HDD slots on
the rear panel of the recorder, and pull out the HDD bracket.

Step 2
Install the hard disk drive into the HDD bracket. When install-
ing the hard disk drive, use a low-torque powered screw-
driver or a torque screwdriver to tighten screws with the
specified torque.
Tightening torque for the screws: 0.49 N·m {0.36 lbf·ft}
Important:
• When securing the hard disk drives to the HDD brackets
do not mistake the direction of the connectors. (Do not
install the hard disk drives in the opposite direction.)
• When installing hard disk drives, use a low-torque pow-
ered screwdriver or a torque screwdriver to tighten
screws with the specified torque.
Note:
• Hard disk drives are locally procured. Contact your deal-
er for purchasing, installing, and replacing the hard disk
drives.

Step 3
Insert the HDD unit (the HDD bracket with the hard disk
drives) all the way into the HDD slot, and secure the HDD
bracket with the screws removed in Step 1.

Turn on the power of the recorder.
If the installed hard disk drive is new, make sure that the
[HDD] indicator lights properly after turning on the power of
the recorder. (☞ Page 31)
If the installed hard disk drive is replaced from another one, it
is necessary to format the hard disk drive or to perform the
link process. Refer to the "HDD management" (☞ page 75)
of the setup menu.
Turn on the power of the recorder. (☞ Page 31)
→ Hard disk drives that that are newly installed will auto-
matically be formatted when they are recognized. When
the formatting is completed, the hard disk drives will
become operable.
The status of hard disk drives can be checked on the
setup menu - the "Maintenance" page - the "HDD infor-
mation" tab. (☞ Page 70)
