Step 1: Remove screws from perimeter of glass as shown
below. The screws will be used to fasten the cement board,
provided by Montigo, to the unit in the finishing stages. Remove
the marked screws above and below the glass. Place provided

Step 2. Back-framing the Fireplace; installing 2 x 4's, (Typical Both
sides). Ensure you have the required 2 x 4's to complete the project.
Cut Four (4) - 2 x 4's to fit under the front & rear fireplace throat,
(horizontal), fit & remove. These must be no closer than 3" below
the bottom edge of glass. Next, cut the short 2 x 4's, to fit at each
end under the previous Horizontals.

provided cement board to pre drill pilot holes. Refer to figures
below for Screw locations.

Next, cut the required quantity of short filler 2x4's under the lower
Horizontal. The number of pieces will be determined by the length,
and model of fireplace. (Follow Typical building codes and practices
when spacing). Next, cut the Required Left and Right Vertical 2 x 4's
and space at 3" from side of apron. Install the Two (2) Non-combustible
Headers, supplied by Montigo (one (1) per side).
