When ISOsensitivity is increased, less light is needed when taking pictures.
Higher ISO sensitivity allows darker subjects to be captured. Additionally, even
with subjects of similar brig htness, pictures can be taken at faster shutter speeds,
and blurring caused by camera shake and subject movement can be reduced.
• Although
higher ISO sensitivity is effective when shooting darker subjects,
shooting without the flash, shooting with the camera zoomed in, etc., images
may contain noise.
Auto (default setting)
Sensitivityis ISO160when there is sufficient lighting; the cameracompensatesby
raisingsensitivityto a maximum of JSQ 800 when lighting isdim.
Fixed range auto
Limits the ISOsensitivityto ISO] 60-400when the cameraautomatically adjusts [SO
sensitivity. T he camerasetsthe maximum value for ISOsensitivityto 400 for
effective control over the amount of "grain"that appears in images.
160,200,400, 800,1600, 3200
ISOsensitivity is locked at the specifiedvalue.
The icon for the ISO sensitivity setting is displayed in the monitor (_
6).
• When Auto is selected, the _
icon is not displayed at [SO 160, but is displayed
if the ISO sensitivity automatically increases to more than 160 (_
34).
• When Fixed range auto is selected, _ 400 is displayed.
