NOTE:Althoughmulti-viscosity oils (5W30,10W30,etc.)improve
startingin cold weather,they will resultin increasedoil consumption
whenusedabove32°R Checkyour engineoil levelmorefrequentlyto
avoidpossibleenginedamagefrom runninglow on oil.
Changethe engineoil after the first five hoursof operation,and every
50 hoursthereafter.Changethe oil every 25 hoursof operationif the
engineis operatedunder heavyload or in high ambienttemperatures.
To Drain Oil
Drainthe oil whilethe engineis warm.Followthe instructionsgiven
below.

Removethe drain plug on the engineand drain the oil into a
suitablecontainer.
Whentheengine is drainedof all oil, replacethedrain plug and
refillwith approximately 20 oz. of fresh oil. Referto GasAnd Oil
Fill-upin the OPERATION section.

carburetorand beingforced intothe engineand is importantto engine
lifeand performance.
Neverrun the enginewithoutan air cleanercompletelyassembled.

Loosenthe air cleanercoverscrew,butdo not removethe screw
fromthe cover.Swingthe coverdownto removefrom thehinge.
Inspectthe filterfor discolorationor dirt accumulation. I f eitheris
present,proceedas follows:
a. Cleanthe insideof bodyand coverthoroughlyand removethe
cartridge.
b. Reassemble the newcartridgein the body.Swingthe cover
downand tightenthe screwloosenedearlier.
Temperature of mufflerand nearbyareasmayexceed 150 ° F(65°C).
Avoidthese areas.
seasonor every50 hoursof operation.
• Cleanthe area aroundthe sparkplug.Removeand inspectthe
spark plug.
Replacethe sparkplug if theelectrodesare pitted,burnedor the
porcelainis cracked.
• Checkthe electrodegap with a wire feelergauge and resetthe gap
to .030inches.See Figure5-3.
NOTE: Donot sandthe sparkplug.The spark plugshouldbe cleaned
with a wire brushand a commercialsolvent.

• Cleanthe engineperiodically,by removingdirt and debriswith a
cloth or brush.
NOTE:Cleaningwith a forcefulsprayof wateris not recommended as
water couldcontaminate the fuelsystem.
• Toensuresmoothoperationof the engine,keepthe governor
linkage,springsand controlsfree of debris.
Every100 hoursof operation,removecombustiondepositsfrom
top of cylinder,head,topof pistonand aroundvalves.
