STARTING
ENGINE
1. Attachthe sparkplug wireto the spark plug.Makecertainthe metal
capon the end of the sparkplug is fastenedsecurelyoverthe metal
tip on the spark plug.
2. Pushthe stop switchto ON.
3. Movethe chokecontrolto the CHOKEposition.
4. Graspthe starterhandleand pullthe ropeout slowlyuntilthe
enginereachesits start of compression cycle (ropewill pull slightly
harderat this point).
5. Pull the ropewith a rapid,continuous,full armstroke.Keepa firm
grip on the starterhandle.Letthe rope rewindslowly.
6. Repeat,if necessary,untilthe enginestarts.Slowlyadjustthe
choketowardthe RUNposition.Wait untilthe enginerunssmoothly
beforeeachchoke adjustment.
7. If the engine falters,movethecontrol leverto theCHOKEposition,
thenslowlyback to the RUNposition.
8. If weatheris cold, runthe wedgeup or downthe beam6 to 8 times
to circulatethe

hotand can causea burn. Donot touchthese areas.

Placethe log splitteron dry, levelground.
Placethe beamin eitherthe horizontalor verticalpositionand lock
it in placewith the appropriatelocking rod.
Blockthe front and back of bothwheels.
Placethe log againsttheend plateandonly split woodin the
directionof the grain.
5. Tostabilizethe log,placeyour handonly on the sides of the log.
Never place your hand on the end between the log and the
splittingwedge.
6. Onlyone adultshouldstabilizethe log and operatethe control
handle,so the operatorhasfull controloverthe log and thesplitting
wedge.

Handle
1. Movethe controlhandleFORWARD or DOWNto split wood.
2. Releasethe controlhandleto stop the wedgemovement.
3. Movethecontrol handleBACKor UPto returnthe wedge.
Log Dislodger
The log dislodgeris designedto removeany partiallysplitwoodfrom
the wedge.This mayoccur whilesplittinglargediameterwoodor
freshlycut wood.
Neverremovepartiallysplit woodfromthe wedgewith yourhands.
Fingersmay becometrappedbetweenthe split wood.
1. To removepartiallysplit woodfrom thewedge, movethecontrol
handleto the REVERSE positionuntilthe wedgeis fully retractedto
allowthe split woodportionto contactthe log dislodger.
2. Once removedfromthe wedgewith the log dislodger,split the
woodfrom the oppositeend or in anotherlocation.
Vertical
Position
1. Pullthe horizontalbeamlock out to releasethe beamand pivot the
beamto the verticalposition.
2. To lock thebeamin the verticalposition,pull out on the vertical
beamlock and rotateit to securethe beam.See Figure4-1.
3. Standin front of the log splitterto operatethe controlhandleand to
stabilizethe log. See Figure4-3.

1. Pullthe verticalbeamlock out and rotateit down. See Figure
4-1.Pivotthe beamto the horizontalposition.The beamwill lock
automaticallyin the horizontalposition.
