SAFETYINSTRUCTIONS - Read before operating equipment
Thisproduct w as designed andmanufactured to meetstrictquality and
safetystandards. Thereare, however, s omeinstallation and operation
precautions whichyoushould beparticularly aware of.
1.
ReadInstructions - Allthesafetyandoperating i nstructions should
bereadbefore the appliance i soperated.
2.
RetainInstructions - The safety and operating i nstructions should
beretained for futurereference.
3.
HeedWarnings - Allwarningsontheappliance andin theoperating
instructions should beadhered to.
4.
FollowInstructions - Alloperating a nd useinstructions shouldbe
followed.
5.
Waterand Moisture - Theappliance should not beused nearwater
- for example, neara bathtub, washbowl, k itchen sink,laundry tub,
in a wet basement or near a swimming p ool,etc.

CartsandStands - Theappliance should beused only, witha cart or
stand thatisrecommended bythemanufacturer.

An appliance andcartcombination shouldbe moved
with care. Quickstops,excessive f orce,and uneven
surfaces maycause theappliance andcart combination
tooverturn.

Wall or CeilingMounting - Theappliance shouldbemounted to a
wallor ceiling onlyas recommended bythemanufacturer.
8.
Ventilation - Theappliance s hould besituated sothatitslocation or
position doesnot interfere withits proper v entilation. Forexample,
theappliance s houldnotbesituated on a bed,sofa,rug,or similar
surfacethat may blockthe ventilation openings; o r, placedin a
built-in installation, suchasa bookcase or cabinetthatmayimpede
theflow ofairthrough theventilation openings.
9.
Heat - The appliance shouldbesituated awayfrom hearsources
such as radiators,heat registers,stoves,or otherappliances
(including a mplifiers) thatproduce h eat.
10. PowerSources- The appliance should be connected t o a power
supply onlyofthetype described i ntheoperating i nstructions oras
marked ontheappliance.
11. Power-CordProtection- Powersupply cordsshouldbe routed so
thattheyare notlikelyto be walkedonor pinched by itemsplaced
uponor againstthem, payingparticular a ttentionto cordsand
plugs, convenience receptacles, andthepoint where theyexitfrom
theappliance.
12. Cleaning - Theapplianc e should be cleaned onlyas recommend -
bythemanufacturer.
13. PowerLines- An outdoor antenna shouldbe located awayfrom
power lines.
14. Outdoor Antenna Grounding - If anoutside antenna isconnected t o
the receiver, b e sure the antennasystemis groundedso as to
provide someprotection a gainst v oltage surgesandbuiltup static
charges.
Section810 ofthe NationalElectric C ode,ANSI/NFPA No. 70-1984,
providesinformation w ithrespect t o proper grounding o f the mats
and supporting structure groundingof the lead-in wire to an
antenna discharge unit,size of grounding connectors, location of
antenna-discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes and
requirements f orthegrounding e lectrode. SeeFig.below.
15. Non-usePeriods- The powercordof the appliance shouldbe
unplugged f rom the outletwhen left unused for a longperiodof
time.
16. ObjectandLiquid Entry- Careshouldbetaken sothatobjects do
not fall and liquids are not spilled intothe enclosurethrough
openings.
17. Damage Requiring Service- Theappliance s houldbeserviced by
qualifiedservicepersonnel w hen:
A. Thepowersupply cordortheplug hasbeen damaged; or
B. Objects havefallen, or liquid has been spilled into the
appliance; or
C. Theappliance hasbeen exposed to rain;or
D. Theappliance doesnotappearto operate normally o r exhibits
a marked change in performance; or
E
Theapplianc e hasbeen dropped, ortheenclosure d amaged.
18. Servicing - The usershouldnot attemptto service the appliance
beyondthat describedin the operatinginstructions. A ll other
servicing s hould bereferred to qualifiedservice personnel .....
Note to the CATVsystem installer:.This reminderis providedto callthe
CATV system installer's attention to Article 820-40 of the NEC that
providesguidelinesfor propergroundingand, in particular, s pecifiesthat
the cable ground shall be connected to the grounding system of the
building,as closeto the pointof cable entryas practical.
