Service A irCleaner
Your e ngine willnotrunproperly and may bedamaged if
yourunitwitha dirty aircleaner. Replace more often if
operating under d irty ordusty conditions.
Toservice theaircleaner, follow these steps:
1. Loosen s crews (D)and remove aircleaner cover (E).
2. Carefully remove cartridge (F)frombase (G).
3. Install clean ( ornew) a ircleaner assembly inside c over.
Dispose ofoldfilterproperly.
4. Assemble aircleaner cover ontobase and tighten
screws.
Service
S park Plug
Changing the spark plug will help your engine to start easier
and run better.
1. Cleanarea around spark plug.
2. Remove and inspect spark plug.
3. Check electrode gap with wire feeler gauge and reset
spark plug gap to recommendedgap if necessary (see
Specifications).
4. Replace spark plug if electrodes are pitted, burned or
porcelain is cracked. Usethe recommended
replacement spark plug. See Specifications.
5. install spark plug and tighten firmly.
Inspect IVluffierand Spark Attester
inspect the muffler for cracks, corrosion, or other damage.
Remove the spark arrester, if equipped, and inspect for
damage or carbon blockage, if replacement parts are
required, make sure to use only original equipement
replacement parts.

Exhaust heat/gases can ignite
combustibles,
structures or damage
fuel tank causing a fire.
• DO NOTtouch hot parts and AVOID hot exhaust gases.
• Allow equipment to cool before touching.
• Keep at bast 5 feet (152 cm) of clearanceon all sides of
generator including overhead.
• it is a violation of California Public Resource Code,Section
4442, to use or operate the engine on any forest-covered,
brush-covered, or grass-covered land unless the exhaust
system is equipped with a spark arrester, as defined in Section
4442, maintained in effective working order. Other states or
federal jurisdictions may have similar laws.
Contact the original equipment manufacturer, retailer, or dealer
to obtain a spark arrester designed for the exhaust system
installed on this engine.
• Replacement parts must be the same and installed in the same
position as the original parts.
Clean and inspectthe spark attester as follows:
1. To remove muffler heat shield (A) from muffler (B),
remove four screws that connect guard to muffler
bracket.

Remove four screws that attach spark arrester screen
(c).
inspect screen and obtain a replacementif torn,
perforated or otherwise damaged. DO NOT use a
defective screen. If screen is not damaged, clean it with
commercial solvent.
4. Reattach screen and muffler guard.
