Newer refrigerators
sound different from older refrigerators.

have more features and use newer technology.

The

compressor

and you may

hum
or pulsating
sound
while
it is operating.

This is due to pressure
equalizing
within
the reti'igerato_:
CLICKS, POPS,
CRACKS
and CHIRPS
You may hear cracking
or i)oi)ping
sounds
when
the
refrigerator
is first i)lugged
in. This hal)pens
as the
ref'rigerator
cools
to
the
correct
tell/l)ei'_lttli'e.
The
compressor
may cause
a clicking
or chiq_ing
sound
when
attempting
to restart
(this could
take
up to 5 minutes).
Expansion
and contraction
of cooling

a cracking

after an icemaking
cycle, you may hear the ice cubes
dropping
into
the ice bucket.

spinning
at high
speeds.

opened
frequently
or when

or freezer

The

are
helping
to
maintain
the
correct
temperatures.

through
the fl'eezer
cooling
coils may make
a gurgling
noise like boiling
water,
_&'ater dropping
on the defl'ost
heater

sizzling,

or buzzing
sound
during
the
defrost
cycle.
A water
dripping
noise may occm" dm'ing
the defl'ost
cycle as ice melts
ti'om
the evaporator
and flows into
the drain
pan.
Closing
the door mav cause a gurgling
sound
due to
pressure
equalization.
