TO USE CRUISECONTROL
The cruise controlfeature can be used for
forwardtravel only.
SYSTEMCHARACTERISTICS
The cruise control shouldonly be used
while mowingor transportingon relatively
smooth,straight surfaces.Otherconditions
such as trimmingat slow speeds may
cause the cruise controlto disengage.Do
not use the cruise controlon slopes,rough
terrian or while trimmimg or turning.
• With forwarddrivepedal (K) depressed
to desired speed, pull cruise control
lever (J) up and hold while liftingyour
foot off the pedal, then releasethe lever.
To disengagethe cruise control, depress
the brakepedal or tap on forwarddrive
pedal.
TO ADJUST MOWERCUTTINGHEIGHT
The position of the attachmentlift lever(A)
determinesthe cutting height.
• The averagelawnshouldbecutto ap-
proximately 2-1/2inchesduringthe cool
seasonandto over3 inchesduringhot
months.Forhealthierandbetterlook-
inglawns,mowoftenand aftermoderate
growth.
• For best cutting performance,grassover
6 inches in height shouldbe mowed
twice. Makethe first cut relativelyhigh;
the secondto desired height.
TO ADJUST GAUGEWHEELS
Gaugewheels are properly adjusted
when they are slightlyoff the groundwhen
moweris at the desired cutting height in
operatingposition.Gaugewheelsthen
keepthe deck in proper positionto help
preventscalpingin mostterrain conditions.
NOTE: Adjust gaugewheels with tractor
on a flat level surface.
1. Adjust mowerto desiredcutting height
(See"TOADJUST MOWERCUTTING
HEIGHT"in this sectionof manual).
2. With mowerin desired height of cut
position,gaugewheels should be
assembledso they are slightly off the
ground. Installgauge wheel in appro-
priatehole.Tightensecurely.
3. Repeatfor all, installinggauge wheel in
same adjustmenthole.
• Put attachmentlift lever in desiredcut-
ting height slot.
• Slide pointertab (T) to desiredcutting
height as a reminderfor nexttime you
mow.
The cutting
height
range is approxi-
mately
1" to 4". The heights
are mea-
sured from the ground
to the blade tip with
the engine
not running.
These
heights
are approximate
and may vary depending
upon soil conditions,
height
of grass and
types
of grass being
mowed.
TO OPERATE
MOWER
Your tractor
is equipped
with an operator
presence
sensing
switch.
Any attempt
by the operator
to leave the seat with the
engine
running
and the attachment
clutch
engaged
will shut off the engine.
You must
remain
fully and centrally
positioned
in the
seat to prevent
the engine
from hesitating
or cutting
off when operating
your equip-
ment on rough,
rolling terrain
or hills.
1. Select
desired
height
of cut with at-
tachment
lift lever.
2.
Start mower
blades
by engaging
at-
tachment
clutch
control.
TO STOP
MOWER
BLADES

disengage
attachment
clutch
control.
