Removethe idler pulleyby removingthe hexscrewand jam lock
nut. See Figure28.

Removethe old beltand install the newbelt. Followthe instruc-
tions in reverseorderto re-installthe belt keeperand belt cover.
See Figure28.
NOTE:Uponreassembly, m akecertain the beltis routedoverthe idler
pulleyand insideof the beltkeepersbythe engine pulley.
TINES
Thetines will wearwith useand shouldbe inspectedat the beginning
of eachtillingseasonand after every30 operatinghours.Thetines
can be replaced.Referto the PartsList sectionof this manualfor part
numbers.
Tine Inspection
With use,the tines will becomeshorter,narrowerand pointed.Badly
worntines will resultin a lossof tillingdepth,and reducedeffective-
nesswhen choppingup and turningunderorganicmatter.
Removing/Installing
a Tine Assembly
1.
Remove thetineshieldendcoversand sideshields by removing the
threewingnutson eachsidethat secure them.Referto Figure11.
2.
A fine assemblyconsistsof a eightarticulatingtines.
NOTE:Notethe positionof the tines for reinstallation of the newtine
assemblies.
3.
To removea fine assembly,simplyremovethe bow-tiecotterpin
securingthe clevispin. See Figure30.

Removethe clevispin and slidethe assemblyto the outsideof
the unitand off of the fine shaft.
Beforereinstalling the fineassembly,inspectthe tine shaftfor
rust, roughspotsor burrs. Lightlyfile or sand,as needed.Applya
thincoat of greaseto the shaft.
Securethe fine assemblyto the tine shaftusingthe clevispin and
bow-tiecotterpin.
ADJUSTMENTS
Handle
The handlemay be adjustedto thedesiredheight.Referto the
Assemblysectionfor details.
Secondary
Clutch
Cable
Adjustment
If additionaladjustmentis necessaryafter the primaryadjustmentfrom
the Assemblysectioncan no longerbe used,the secondaryadjust-
ment can be performedas follows:
1.
Removethe beltcover as instructedthe Belt Replacement o n
page 21.
2.
Locatethe springat the end of the cable.See Figure31.

Loosenthe uppernut, thentightenor loosenthe lowernut until
the propertensionis reached.
Once thepropertension is reached,re-tightenthe upper nutto
securethe cable.
