PROBLEM
KnockingNoise
(Continued...)
Continuous air relieving from
pressure switch release valve
after shut-off.
CAUSE
Loosebelt.
Carbon build-up.
Belt too tight.
Defective check valve.
Motor will not run.
Restricted air intake.
Motor overload protection switchhas
tripped.
Tankpressure exceedspressure switch
"cut-in" pressure.
Check valve stuck open - fails to re-
lieve head pressure; motor cannot start.
Loose electrical connections.
Possibledefectivecapacitor.
Possible defective motor.
Fuse blown, circuit breaker tripped.
Pressure release valve on pressure
switch has not unloaded head pres-
sure.
Paint spray on internalmotor parts.
Dirty air filter.
CORRECTION
Tightenwingnut untilitcontacts thewasher,plusone
more turn.
Remove the head and valve plate. Cleanthe valve

fall into the cylinder.) Reassemble to 25-30 ft. Ibs.
using new gasket and torque screws.
Adjust belt tension (see "Belt Replacement".)
See "Air leak at check valve."
Let the motor cool off and reset switch by pressing
the red button located on the end of the motor. If the
overload still trips, check for defective capacitor.
Motor wilt start automatically when tank pressure
drops below "cut-in" pressure of pressure switch.
Remove and clean, or replace. DO NOT OVER-
TIGHTEN.
Check wiringconnectioninsidepressureswitchand
motorterminal box area.
Return to Sears Service Center for inspectionor
replacementif necessary.
Havechecked at a local Sears service Center.

necessary. Reset circuit breaker. Do not use a
fuse or circuitbreakerwith higherratingthanthat
specifiedfor your particularbranchcircuit.
2. Check for proper fuse; only Buss "Fusetron"
Type T fuses are acceptable.
3. Checkfor low voltageconditions.
4. Removecheck valve and clean or replaceif it is
stuckopen or closed.
5. Disconnectany other electricalappliances from
circuit.The compressormustoperateon itsown
branchcircuit.
6. Do not use an extension cord.
Bleedthe line by pushingthe lever on the pressure
switchto the OFF position, opening the pressure
release valve. If the valve stilldoesn'topen, it must
be replaced.
Have checked at Sears Service Center. Do not
