OPERATE YOUR S AW SAFELY
• Donot o perate with one hand. Seri-
ous injury t othe operator, helpers, or
bystanders may result from one-
handed operation. Achain s aw isin-
tended for t wo-handed use.
• Donot o perate saw from aladder or
inatree.
• Make s ure the chain w ill n ot m ake
contact with any object while starting
the saw. Never start the saw when
the guide b ar i sinacut.
• Don't force c hain s aw. Itwill d othe
jobbetter and safer atthe rate for
which i twas intended.
• Donot p ut p ressure onthe saw, es-
pecially atthe end ofthe cut. D oing
socan cause y ou tolose control
when t he cutiscompleted.
• Stop t he saw before setting itdown.
• Hand c arry s aw only when m otor is
stopped. Carry the chain s aw by the
front handle with the saw stopped, fin-
ger o ff t he switch, the guide b ar a nd
saw chain t othe rear.
• Use the right tool, cut w ood o nly.
Don't use chain s aw forpurpose not
intended; forexample, don't use
chain s aw forcutting plastic, mason-
ry, n on-wood building materials.
• Donot o perate achain s aw that i s
damaged, improperly adjusted, or
not c ompletely and securely as-
sembled. Always replace bar, chain,
hand g uard, orother parts i mmedi-
ately i fthey become damaged, bro-
ken, orare otherwise removed.
• Inspect chain s aw cords p eriodically
and ifdamaged, have repaired bya
Sears Service Center.

• Make c ertain saw chain s tops m ov-
ing when t rigger switch i sreleased.
• Keep t he handles dry and clean a nd
free from oiland grease.
• Keep o il c ap and fasteners securely
tightened.
• Nonconforming replacement compo-
nents orthe removal ofsafety devices
may cause damage tothe unit and
possible injury tothe operator orby-
standers. Use only C raftsman acces-
sories and replacement parts asrec-
ommended. Never modify your saw.
• Maintain chain s aw with care.
• Keep u nit s harp a nd clean f orbetter
and safer performance.
• Follow i nstructions forlubricating and
changing accessories.
• Unplug the chain s aw from the power
source when n ot i nuse, before servic-
ing, and when c hanging accessories
and attachments, such a ssaw chain
and guard.
• Check fordamaged parts. Before fur-
ther u se ofthe chain s aw, aguard or
other part that i sdamaged should be
carefully checked todetermine that i t
will o perate properly and perform its
intended function. Check foralignment
ofmoving parts, binding ofmoving
parts, breakage ofparts, mounting and
any other conditions that m ay a ffect its
operation. Aguard o rother part that i s
damaged should beproperly repaired
orreplaced by a Sears Service Center
unless otherwise indicated elsewhere
inthe instruction manual.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY
_ILWARNING: Avoid a dangerous
environment. To reduce the risk of

swimming pools, hot tubs, etc. Do not
expose to snow, rain, or water to avoid
the possibility of electrical shock. Do
not handle extension cord or plug with
wet hands.
• Use a voltage supply as shown on the
nameplate of the unit.
• Avoid dangerous situations. Do not
use in the presence of flammable liq-
uids or gases to avoid creating a fire
or explosion and/or causing damage
to unit.
• To reduce the risk of electrical shock,
this appliance has a polarized plug
(one blade is wider than the other) and
will require the use of a polarized ex-
tension cord. The appliance plug will fit
into a polarized extension cord only
one way. If the plug does not fit fully
into the extension cord, reverse the
