Spark Arrester Service
Your engine is not factory-equipped with a spark
arrester. Jnsome areas, it is i[Jega[ to operate an
engine without a spark arrester. Check local laws and
regulations. A spark arrester is available from your
nearest Sears service center, ff you need to order a
spark arrester, please ca[J 1-800-366-PART.
WARNING
DO NOT touch hot surfaces.
Allow equipment to cool before touching.
The pressure washer must be at least 5 feet from
structures having combustible walls and/or other
combustible materials.
Keep at least 3 feet of clearance on all sides of pressure
washer for adequate cooling, maintenance and servicing.
In the State of California a spark attester is required by law
(Section 4442 of the California Public Resources Code).
Other states may have similar laws. Federal laws apply on
federal lands. If you equip the muffler with a spark attester,
it must be maintained in effective working order.
The spark attester must be serviced every 100 hours
to keep it functioning as designed.
If the engine has been running, the muffler wi[[ be very
hot. Allow the muffler to cool before servicing the
spark arrester.
1. Remove the three 6 mm bolts from the muffler
protector, and remove the muffler protector.

2. Remove the two special screws from the spark
arrester, and remove the spark arrester.
3. Use a brush to remove carbon deposits from the
spark attester screen. Be careful not to damage
the screen.
iMPORTANT: Replace spark attester if it has breaks
or holes.
4. Install clean (or new) spark arrester in reverse
order of removal.
