    Selecting a paper source You can specify a paper source manually, or set the printer to select the paper source automatically. Manual selection You can use the printer driver or the printer’s control panel to select a paper source manually.

    MP tray Follow these steps to load paper into the MP tray. 1. Open the MP tray, then pull out the expansion tray on the MP tray to accommodate the size of the media you want to load. 2. Load a stack of the desired media with the printable surface facing down, then slide the guides against the sides of the stack to get a snug fit.

    In addition to plain paper, you can also use special media such as EPSON Color Laser Paper in the paper cassettes. Follow these steps to load paper into the standard and optional paper cassette units. The illustrations show the standard lower cassette.
  • Page 34 1. Pull the paper cassette out until it stops. Then lift up the front of the cassette and pull out the cassette. 2. Slide the guides to accommodate the paper you are loading. Tilt the rear guide forward to slide it. 3.

    This tray can hold up to 250 sheets. Raise the stopper to prevent your printouts from slipping off the printer. Printing on Special Media You can print on special media such as EPSON Color Laser Paper, EPSON Color Laser Transparencies, thick paper, envelopes, and labels.

    Note: Since the quality of any particular brand or type of media may be changed by the manufacturer at any time, EPSON cannot guarantee the quality of any type of media. Always test samples of media stock before purchasing large quantities or printing large jobs.
  • Page 40 ❏ Hold each sheet by its edges, as oil from your fingers may transfer to the surface and damage the printable surface of the sheet.     Making the print quality setting You can change the print quality of printouts through settings in the printer driver. With the printer driver, you can make the print settings by choosing from a list of predefined settings, or customizing the settings.

Color and resolution are the only settings you have to make. You can change other settings such as paper size or orientation in most applications.

    Getting printer status details You can monitor printer status and obtain information on consumable products using the EPSON Status Monitor 3 dialog box. Note: This screen may vary depending on your operating system version. Icon/Message: The icon and message show the printer status.

    Photoconductor Unit: Order Online To order consumables online, click the Order Online button on the EPSON Status Monitor 3 dialog box. The Order Online dialog box appears.     When you wish to reinstall or upgrade the printer driver, be sure to uninstall the current printer software beforehand. Note: When uninstalling EPSON Status Monitor 3 from a multi-user Windows XP, 2000, NT 4.0, and Server 2003 environment, remove the shortcut icon from all clients before uninstalling. You can remove the icon by clearing the Shortcut Icon check box in the Monitoring Preference dialog box.
