IGNITION SWITCH
Theignitionswitchis activated to starttheengine, insertkeyinto the
ignitionswitchandturnclockwise to theSTART position. R elease the
keyinto theONpositio n onceengine hasfired.See Fig.7.
Tostoptheengine, t urn the ignition k eycounterclockwise tothe OFF
position. S eeFig.7.
SETTING THE CUTTING HEIGHT
1. Selecttheheightposition of thecuttingdeckbyplacing thedeck
lift lever in anyofthesix different c uttingheightnotches o n the
rightsideofthefender.
NEVERleavea running machine u nattended. Alwaysdisengage
PTO,moveshiftleverintoneutral p osition,setparking brake,stop
engine and remove keyto prevent u nintended starting.

ENGAGING
THE PARKING
BRAKE
To engage the parking brake:
1.
Fufly depress theclutch-brake
pedalandholditdownwithyourfoot.
2.
Move thespeedcontrol l ever allthewaydownand intotheparking
brakeposition.
3.
Release theclutch-brake pedal t oallowtheparking brake toengage.
To release the parking
brake:
1.
Depress theclutch+brake pedalandmovethespeedcontrollever
outofthe parking brakeposition and intoa desiredspeed.
STARTING THE ENGINE
NOTE:Refer totheGasoline andOiJ fill-upinstructions e arlierin this
section.
1.
Insertthetractorkey intotheignition switch.
2.
PlacethePTO(BladeEngage) l everin thedisengaged (OFF)
position.
3.
Engage thetractor'sparkingbrake.
4. Activate thechokecontrol b ymoving thethrottletchoke
leverall
thewayup intothechoke position.
5. Turnthe ignition keyclockwisetothe STARTposition. Aftertheengine
starts,release thekey.It willreturn to theON(orNormal M owing)
position.
DO NOT hold the keyin the STARTposition for longerthan ten
seconds at a time. Doing so may cause damage to your engine's
electric starter.
6.
After the engine starts, deactivatethe choke control a nd place the
throttle control inthe FASTposition.
NOTE: Do NOT leave the chokecontrolon whileoperating the tractor.
Doingso willresultin a "rich" fuel mixtureand cause the engine to run
poorly.
