OPERATE YOUR SAWSAFELY
• Donotoperate withone hand. Sed-
ousinjury totheoperator,
helpers, or
bystanders may result from one-
handedoperation. A chainsaw is in-
tendedfor two-handeduse.
• Operatethe chain saw onlyin a wail-
ventilatedoutdoor area.
• Do not operatesawfrom a ladder or
in a tree, unlessyou ate spedficaliy
trainedto do so.
• Make surethe chainwill not make
contact with any objectwhilestarting
the engine.Never tryto startthe saw
whenthe guidebar is in a out.

portionofthe tip ofthe guide bar can
causethe chain to dig intothe object,
which stops thechain for an instant. T he
resultisa I,ghtning fast,reversereaction
whichRicks the guidebar up and back
towardthe operator.
Pinch-Kickback and Pull-in occurwhen
the chain is suddenlystoppedby being
pinched,caught,or by contactingafor-
etgn objectin the wood. Thissudden
stoppingof the chainresultsin a.rever-
ea! ofthe chainforce usedto cu_wooa
and causesthe saw to movein the op-
positedirectionofthe chainrotation.
Pinch-Kickback drivesthe sawstraight
back towardthe operator. P ull-in pulls
