A JUSTMENTS
TO REPLACE
MOTION
DRIVE BELT
(See Fig, 29)
Park the tractor on level surface.
Engage parking brake,
For ease of service there is a belt installation guide decal on
bottom of left footrest.
-
Remove mower (See "TO REMOVE MOWER" in this
section of this manuaL)
BELT REMOVAL -
o
Engage parking brake (creates slack in belt).
-
Remove belt from clutching and fan idler puiieys.
Remove bett from transaxle pulley.
o
Remove beLL from engine
pulley and front V-idier
pulley.
-
Pu!l belt out of alt bett keepers and remove from tractor.
BELT iNSTALLATiON
®
Place V part of belt into grooves on engine pulley and
front V-idle[, making sure to route belt inside of all belt
keepers.
Route belt on right side, coming from Widler, towards
back of tractor, above midspan belt keeper and to top
of transaxle pulley.
Route belt on left side, coming from engine pulley,
towards back of tractor and through loop in midspan
bet1 keeper.

Place V part of belt into grooves on transaxle and fan
idler pulleys, making sure to route belt inside of all belt
keepers.
o
Place belt around clutching idlers as shown, making
sure to route belt inside of al! belt keepers,
o
Check to be sure belt is positioned correctly and is on
proper side of aft belt keepers.
Reinstall mower.
IIMPORTANT:
CHECK
BRAKE ADJUSTMENT.

The motion control lever has been preset at the factory and
adjustment should not be necessary.
If for any reason the motion control lever will not hold its
position while at a selected speed, it may be adjusted at the
friction pack located on the dght side of chassis.
Park tractor on level surface.
Stop tractor by turning
_gnition key to "OFF" position and engage parking
brake.

Place motion control lever in neutral (N) position.
While holding Iocknut, loosen jam nut
-
Tighten focknut 1/4turn.
-
While holding tocknut, tighten jam nut securely.
NOTE:
If for any reason the effort to move the motion
control lever becomes too excessive, reverse the above
adjustment procedure by loosening [ocknut 1/4 turn.
Road test tractor after adjustment and repeat procedure if
necessary.

RE!MOVAL/REPLACEMENT
Should your transmission
require removal for service or
replacement, it should be purged after reinstallation before
operating the tractor.
See "PURGE TRANSMISSION"
in
Operation section of this manual.
TO ADJUST
STEERING
WHEEL ALIGNMENT
if steering wheel crossbars are not horizontal (left to right)
when wheels are positioned straightforward,
remove steer-
ing wheet and reassemble per instructions inthe Assembly
section of this manual.
