  • Page 18 SLIDING FIT BETWEEN HEAD SETTING CHISEL SQUARE TO FENCE AND COLUMN Before using the mortiser, it is important to make sure that the chisel is square to the fence. A dovetail gib is provided on the rear of the head to insure a good sliding fit between the head and the column when the head is raised and lowered.
