blade it will give only 1/4" depth of cutand shouldbe replaced.
Tip: Toincreaseblade life, keep initial cuffing depthat minimum and increasedepthsetting as bladewears.

TO ATTACHNEW BLADE:
3 Ensureinner sprlcer is on sbeft--"flats" in spacer hole mustengoge with "flats" on shaft
4 Holding thespacer in place, put file blade on theshaft, as shown (Figure10)
5 Hold the bfode against the spacer and install the outer spacer,again aligning the flats in the spacer with
the flats on the shaft
6 Install the hex head nut and conical washer, thentighten with a wrench (140 in pounds).
Note: Replacebex head nut and conical washer only with identical replacementport, see ServiceInformation
7 Closedoor; knob must be in locking position

ToturntoolON, squeezethetriggerswitch The trigger has been designedso that it is very easy to hold in file
ON position. To turn tool OFF,releasethe trigger

1 Setcut depth at 1" and setedge guide to the down position refer to AssemblyInstructions
2 Beforestarting the edger hne upflle tool so the edge guide rests against file edge of thepaved sudace
(Figure 11) Both rear wt_eelsshouldbe on the paved surfacewhen edging
Tip: When there isheavy overgrowth of grass over the paved surface it may drag on the guard. An initial cut
may be required with the edger on thegrass side, Thiswill require lifting upthe edgeguide and may
require redudngthe depth of cut (seeEdgeGuideand Depth Adjustment instructions).
3 Toavoid kickback of edger, tilt the handle down sothe blade is above theground (Figure 12)
4 TurnswitchON and allow blade to spin without moving tool.
5 Slowly lift the handle to lower the blade finding the edge of the paved surface and start edging Thenmove
tool forward slowly along edge of paved surface, keeping the edge guide pressedlightly against the
pavementedge
Forfile first edging each se'lson,it is best to move forward dowJyBecausegrass is thickestthen Subsequent
edging wiJJ be completed more rapidly If the tool slawsdown, back it up an inch or two until the blade comesup
to normal speed During edging somesparks may be generated from hitting stones This is normal Do not attempt to
edgewhen the grass or solJis wet or moist--for electrical safetyand to preventdogging of the blade chamber gyou
mustedge under conditions thatcausetheblade chamber to becomedogged, releasetrigger,wait for blade to come
to completestop! UNPLUGTOOL! open door and removeclogged material with a stick To continueto operate the

CAUTION: Do not attempt to undog the blade chamber by dropping or tappingthe tool on the ground
