connections are tight and all
hydraulic hoses and lines a re in
good c ondition before applying
pressure tosystem.
FOREIGN FLUID I NJECTED
INTO BODY c an result in
gangrene. Fluid m ust be
surgically removed within a few
hours byadoctor familiar with this
form ofinjury.
Disconnect battery orremove spark plug w ire
before making any repairs. Disconnect the
negative terminal first a nd the positive last.
Reconnect positive first a nd negative last.
Use care w hen c hecking blades. Wrap t he
blade(s) orwear gloves, and use caution
when s ervicing them. Only r eplace blades.
Never straighten orweld t hem.
Keep hands and feet away f rom moving
parts. Ifpossible, donot m ake a djustments
with the engine running.
Charge batteries inanopen w ell-ventilated
area, away from spark and flames. Unplug
charger before connecting ordisconnecting
from battery. Wear protective clothing and
use insulated tools.
Keep allparts ingood w orking condition and
allhardware tightened. Replace all w orn o r
damaged decals.
MOWER SAFETY
This product is capable of amputating hands
and feet and throwing objects. Always follow
all safety instructions to avoid serious injury
or death.
Read and understand all precautions found in
the operator's manual before operating the
Ariens mower. This equipment must only be
operated by those who have been trained in
its safe use.
In order to provide a better view, certain
photographs or illustrations in this manual
may show an assembly with a safety shield
removed. However, a machine should never
be operated without the safety shields
installed. Keep all shields in place. If shield
removal becomes necessary for repairs,
replace shield prior to machine operation.

WARNING: DO NOT remove or
obscure DANGER, WARNING,
CAUTION or Instruction Decals.
Replace any decals that are not
readable or are missing.
Replacement decals are available
from your dealer. The location of
these Safety Decals is illustrated
in figure 2.
GENERAL SAFETY RULES
This manual must be made available to the
operator of the Ariens mower at all times.
Read this manual carefully and learn how to
use the machine correctly. Become familiar
with all machine controls and how to stop the
machine and the implements or attachments
quickly.
Beware of bystanders, particularly children!
Always look around to make sure that it is
safe to start the engine or move the power
unit. This is particularly important with higher
noise levels as you may not hear people
shouting.
Keep Off
Only allow the operator on the machine. Do
not carry passengers. This mower is
designed for one (1) person, the driver.
Riders on the machine could be struck by
foreign objects or thrown off the machine
causing serious injury.
Riders obstruct the operator's view which
results in the machine being operated in a
manner which is unsafe.
DO NOT carry passengers anywhere on the
power unit or on any implement or
attachment connected to, or installed on the
power unit.
Before Operation
Pay special attention to the warning, caution
and danger labels on the machine.
Do not use starting fluid. Use of starting fluid
could damage engine components.
Check the brakes and other mechanical parts
for correct adjustment and wear. Replace
worn or damaged parts promptly. Check the
torque on all hardware regularly.
