1. Introduction

Thanks for choosing the M-Audio FireWire 410 Mobile Recording interface. We designed the FireWire 410 to be a professional, portable
solution for getting audio and MIDI in and out of your computer. Using the high-bandwidth IEEE-1394 (FireWire) bus, the FireWire 410 provides
your computer with a high-resolution multichannel audio interface, as well as sixteen channels of MIDI in and out.
With its built-in low-noise mic preamps, XLR mic and 1/4" line level analog inputs, the FireWire 410 gives you a professional quality audio
"front end" for your Digital Audio Workstation. You can connect an instrument or microphone to the FireWire 410's front-panel inputs, with
switchable phantom power for condenser mics. With its eight line level analog outputs, you can connect to a mixer or surround matrix, or
directly to powered monitors. And with two channels of digital I/O on TOSLink's optical and RCA coaxial connectors, you can record to and
from a CD, MiniDisc, or DAT. In all, the FireWire 410 gives you a total of four inputs and ten outputs of connectivity to your computer, in a
rugged but compact package that can travel with you anywhere.
Even if you're an experienced recordist, please take some time to read through this owner's manual and familiarize yourself with the FireWire
410's features and operation. You may also want to refer to your audio software's documentation to better understand how the FireWire 410's
features are integrated with the program. Your experience and enjoyment of your FireWire 410 will be greatly enhanced by a good working
