4. If applicable, connect one end of the modem cable to the modem port and
connect the other end to a telephone wall socket.
5. Raise the LCD panel.
CAUTION: Do not apply any force, take care to slide the latch (see

Front View 1) that unlocks it.
6. Briefly press on the power button to power on your system.

Handling the Battery

Review the following before handling the system battery.
CAUTION: Use the battery only in the notebook computer for which

it is designed. Mixing other notebook batteries, other manufacturer's
batteries, or using a combination of very old and new batteries can
deteriorate battery and equipment performance.
1. Turn off power to the system after use.
2. Clean the battery connectors with a dry cloth if they get dirty.
3. When not in use, store the battery in a cool dry area.
The following symptoms indicate that battery life is nearing an end.
Discard batteries that display these symptoms:

Battery Life

Batteries will start to perform less (50% of maximum time reached in a
laboratory environment) with age. Every couple of months you should do a
complete discharge of the battery, followed by an un-interrupted full battery
recharge to ensure reliable battery operation.
Replacing Batteries
A lithium battery in some computers maintains system configuration
information. In the event that the battery fails to maintain system configuration
information, we recommend that you replace the battery. For battery
replacement information, please refer to your local dealer.
