Overview
Z-MAX with integral overcurrent protection is an assembly comprised of a Z-MAX relay section
and a circuit breaker panelboard section. In lieu of feeding the relays from an external
panelboard they are factory-wired to a circuit breaker contained in an integral panelboard. The
feed becomes a single large feeder to the panelboard, either to lugs or to an optional main
circuit breaker. This product is available with a 24 or 48-module relay section and the
panelboard sections which generally fall into one of the following categories:
• 225A max., 120/240V, 1-Phase, 3-Wire, 60Hz., Lugs or Main Breaker
• 225A max., 208Y/120V, 3-Phase, 4-Wire, 60Hz., Lugs or Main Breaker
• 400A max., 480Y/277V, 3-Phase, 4-Wire, 60Hz., Lugs or Main Breaker
• 250A max., 600Y/347V, 3-Phase, 4_Wire, 60Hz., Lugs or Main Breaker

G. They are located at the bottom of the cabinet in the 120V units and in the top
of the right-hand section of the cabinets in the higher voltage units.
Install the conduit and wire appropriate for the size of feeder being supplied to
Step 2:
serve the scheduled connected load, not exceeding the panel's maximum rating.
Use min. 75°C copper wire at 75°C ampacity.
Terminate the feeder cables to the input terminals as marked and tighten them to
Step 3:
the torque specified on the markings. Feeder terminals will accept the wire sizes
as shown in Figure 1.
If control power supply leads are not already terminated to the breaker panel
Step 4:
they may be terminated to an available breaker in the panel or to an external
panelboard. They must be wired with branch circuit wiring sized for the rating of
the overcurrent protection device.
