Installation

Setting Up the System

Follow the steps below to set up your new system before you install it on a desk, table, or wall.
1.
Install the battery, which will be used as backup power to retain memory in case of power
failure.
a)
Turn the unit over
b)
Open the battery cover by gently pulling on the moveable tab.
c)
Connect the 9-volt battery and place it in the compartment.
d)
Close the battery cover.

Set the dial mode switch:
Set the DIAL MODE switch to TT (touch-tone) unless you have dial pulse (rotary) service. If you have
dial pulse service, set the DIAL MODE to DP.

Fill out the telephone number card
a) To remove the clear plastic cover and the number card, slide your finger across the cover until one
of the ends slides out.
b) Write your telephone number on the card.
c) Reinstall the card and cover.

Continue unit installation
To install the unit on a table or desk, continue with "Table/Desk Installation."
To install the unit on a wall, go to "Wall Installation."
Table/Desk Installation
Follow the steps below to install your new system on a table or desk.

Complete Steps 1through 3 in "Setting Up the System"
2.
Install the base bracket on the bottom of the unit, at the same end as the POWER jack.
a) Turn the unit over.
b) Insert the non-movable tabs on the base bracket into the set of slots at the very edge of the unit.
c) Press and hold the movable tabs while lowering them into the second set of slots. The base bracket
should snap firmly into place.

Connect the handset cord
Plug one end of the coiled handset cord into the jack on the left side of the unit. Plug the other end into
the handset.

Connect the line cord
a)
Plug one end of the 7-foot telephone line cord into the jack labeled TEL LINE at the back of
the unit.
b)
Plug the other end of the telephone line cord into a modular wall jack. Make sure it snaps
firmly into place.
c)
Lift the handset and check for the dial tone

Connect the power cord
a)
Fit the power cord behind the strain relief tab.
b)
Plug the power cord into the jack labeled POWER at the back of the unit.
