Additional Fabric OS 6.1.x enhancements
Additional Fabric OS 6.1.x enhancements include:
Provides new Fabric OS commands to rename an alias, a zone, and a zone configuration:
• Zone –copy—Copies the zone object to a new zone object.
• Zoneobjectrename—Renames the zone object.
Detects a corrupted zone configuration [under /etc/fabos/zone*] and handles it gracefully
instead of rebooting. The switch also logs the error in RASLOG.
Adds a new command that provides both the WWN (world wide name) and serial number of the
switch. Adds an –sn option to display the serial number. For example, wwn –sn returns both the
WWN and serial number data.
Provides additional information on a faulty port in Fabric Watch to aid in troubleshooting.
Enables use of passive FTP to download firmware.
Enables the user to specify a quality password policy that prevents selecting passwords with con-
secutive, identical characters.
Uses multiple NTP servers with the tsclockserver command for redundancy. For example, if
one site NTP server fails (DR scenario), there is a backup that can be reached by the switches.

Description
All switches and Fibre Channel Routers both in edge and backbone fabrics
must be running Fabric OS 6.1.0 in order to support this feature.
It is essential to have "fail-over" policy enabled in all edge fabrics that are part
of the Traffic Isolation Zones, in order for the proper functioning of Traffic
Isolation over FCR.
All switches must operate with Fabric OS 6.1.x or later to support this feature.
Port Fencing is only supported on E_Port and F_Port classes. Port Fencing is
available with the optional Fabric Watch license.
When the port fencing feature is enabled for ITW or CRC errors, the first set
of errors detected on an active link that meet the custom high threshold level
set by the user (or the default threshold level) is always ignored to account for
expected link transition errors. The port is disabled only upon detection of a
second set of errors, that is, the next time the user-set threshold level (or default
threshold level) is reached. This prevents a port from being disabled due to
normal link transition behaviors.
The default settings for Port Fencing reflect very low thresholds, which may
cause fence ports to experience errors. HP recommends increasing these
threshold values for use in production environments. Different platforms may
require different threshold settings for optimum behavior.
Proper behavior of Port Mirroring functionality requires that the entire frame path
must contain either only 8-Gb ASICs or only 4-Gb ASICs. If a frame path contains
a mix of 8-Gb and 4-Gb ASICs, this functionality will not work as intended.
With the release of Fabric OS 6.1.x, the Web Tools and Zoning licenses are now
included in the base firmware. If a licenseshow command is executed, it shows
the Web Tools and Zoning licenses as Unknown license1 and Unknown
license2. This does not indicate a problem All the functionality provided by the
licenses in the past firmware releases will be present with 6.1.x.
