Secondary Microprocessor To take advantage of future options in speed and functionality, you can add secondary microprocessors or replace either the primary or secondary microprocessors in your Dell ™ system. - Page 5 Identify the pin-1 corner of the microprocessor by turning the microprocessor over and locating the tiny gold triangle (see Figure 1-2). The gold triangle points toward pin 1, which is also uniquely identified by a square pad. NOTE: Identifying the pin-1 corners is critical to positioning the chip correctly. F i g u r e 1 - 2 .
- Page 6 CAUTION: Positioning the microprocessor incorrectly can permanently damage the microprocessor and the system when you turn on the system. Install the microprocessor in the socket. If the release lever on the ZIF socket is not in the upright position, move it to that position now.

See “Running the Dell™ Diagnostics” in your Installation and Troubleshooting Guide for information on running the diagnostics and troubleshooting any problems that may occur.
