  • Page 25 About This Guide This guide describes how to set up and operate the Silicon Graphics Origin200 server and Origin Vault expansion option. Both chassis have two formats: a standalone tower and an enclosure that can be mounted in the Origin Rack or other Silicon Graphics rack.

Multimodule systems are linked not only by a CrayLink Interconnect cable, but also by a grounding cable that ensures both modules are at the same potential.

DIMMs are installed in sockets that are grouped into two banks of four sockets each. Figure 1-7 shows the layout of the DIMM sockets on the main system board.

This interface allows separate machines to send and receive interrupts over a dedicated wire for purposes of inter-machine synchronization.   • Page 49 The Origin Vault expansion option is a drive enclosure that holds up to six 3.5-inch drives and either one full-height 5.25-inch drive or two half-height 5.25-inch drives. It provides expansion capacity for Silicon Graphics Origin2000, Origin200, and Onyx2 deskside and rackmount servers and workstations.
  • Page 50 The Origin Vault drive enclosure version can be mounted in the Origin2000 Rack (Origin Rack) or other 19-inch Silicon Graphics rack, the Origin SCSI expansion rack (P-S-RACK, 21 inches wide), or in an industry-standard 19-inch rack. Otherwise, the Origin200 system board will be damaged. Modules may be connected to different electrical circuits, but those circuits must originate at the same power supply (electrical service entrance or breaker box).
