Deciding on an Installation Site
Install in a quiet, stable location offering good operating conditions. An unsuitable location can cause accident, fire, faulty operation, or breakdown.
Install the machine in a location that is level, stable, and able to bear the weight of the machine. The total weight may reach over 235 kg (518 lbs). Installation in an unsuitable location may cause a major accident, including tip over, fall, or collapse.
Never install out of doors or in any location where exposure to water or high humidity may occur. Current leakage may cause electrical shock, electrocution, or combustion and fire.
Never install close to any flammable object or in a gas-filled location. Combustion or explosion may be a danger.
Install in a clean, brightly lit location. Conduct operations in a clean, brightly lit location. Working in a location that is dark or cluttered may lead to an accident, such as becoming caught in the machine as the result of an inadvertent stumble.
Position so that the power plug is within immediate reach at all times. This is to enable quick disconnection of the power plug in the event of an emergency. Install the machine next to an electrical outlet. Also, provide enough empty space to allow immediate access to the electrical outlet.
Ensure adequate ventilation for the work area. Failing to perform ventilation may result in a health hazard or danger of combustion due to ink fumes. |
Unsuitable Installation Sites
Temperature and Humidity
Maintain the specified temperature and humidity even when the machine is not in use. If temperatures are too high or too low, it may cause malfunction.
During operation: Temperature 20 to 32˚C (68 to 90˚F), relative humidity 35 to 80% (no condensation) During non-operation: Temperature 5 to 40˚C (41 to 104˚F), relative humidity 20 to 80% (no condensation)

About the picture
Assembling and Installing
Perform this task with all power switches left switched off. Otherwise sudden movement of the machine may cause injury.
Unpacking and installation must be carried out by six or more personnel. Otherwise the machine or the stand may fall, resulting in injury.
Necessary tool (Included items)
When tightening the bolts fully, tighten them securely. Loose bolts may cause the stand to wobble.
Connecting the Cables
Connect to electrical outlet that complies with this machine's ratings (for voltage, frequency, and current). Incorrect voltage or insufficient current may cause fire or electrical shock.
Connect to ground. This can prevent fire or electrical shock due to current leakage in the event of malfunction.
Perform this task with all power switches left switched off. Otherwise sudden movement of the machine may cause injury. |
About the picture
Filling with Ink for the First Time
Never insert your hand or fingers into the opening of the front cover. The print head carriage moves at high speed inside the cover. Hitting may cause injury.
Never switch off the power during the procedures or never remove a cartridge while [FILLING INK] is displayed. [CLEAN- ING ERROR] appears on the display screen and ink filling is stopped. In that case, follow the instructions described in the section "Cleaning error" in "If Error Message Appears" of User's Manual to recover from the error, and then start from the beginning.
Before you detach the drain bottle, be sure to wait for the screen to display "EMPTY DRAIN BOTTLE."
Failing to follow this procedure may cause discharged fluid to flow out of the tube and spill, soiling your hands or the floor.
Never put discharged fluid or ink closed to fire. Doing so may cause the blaze.
To store discharged fluid temporarily, keep it in the provided drain bottle or in a durable container such as a metal can or polyethylene tank, and close the cap tightly. Any spillage or vapor leakage make cause fire, odor, or physical distress.
Dispose discharged fluid properly, in accordance with the laws in effect in your local.
Discharged fluid is flammable and contains toxic ingredients. Never attempt to incinerate discharged fluid or discard it with ordinary trash. Also, do not dispose of it in sewer systems, rivers, or streams. Doing so may have an adverse impact on the environment.
Memo
The examples used in the procedures for making the settings described in this section assume you are using one computer and one machine. The settings used in this section are merely example settings. The procedures and setting values described here may not be suitable for all operating environments.
If the computer you're using is connected to a number of networked devices or to the Internet, incorrect settings may adversely affect the entire network. For detailed information about the settings, consult your network administrator.
Procedures from Preparing to Move Through Reinstalling
When moving the machine, keep it at a temperature between 5 to 40°C (41 to 104°F) and at relative humidity between 20 to 80% (with no condensation). Failure to do so may result in breakdown.
