IBM posts SPECjEnterprise2010 score for BladeCenter HS22
HS22 delivers single-node result for SPECjEnterprise2010™
March 30, 2010 ... IBM® has published a single-node result for the new SPECjEnterprise2010
benchmark—1,599.51 Enterprise jAppServer Operations Per Second (SPECjEnterprise2010 EjOPS).
This score was achieved using the IBM BladeCenter® HS22 as the application server running IBM
WebSphere® Application Server V7 as the middle tier and the IBM System x®3650 M2 as the
database server running IBM DB2® 9.7 Enterprise Server. With this SPECjEnterprise2010 result, IBM
demonstrates its ability not only to provide both software and hardware for an optimal solution in the
middle tier and in the backend database layer, but also to deliver a robust solution for clients' complex
workloads.
The benchmarked configuration consisted of an IBM BladeCenter HS22 server, which was configured
with the Intel® Xeon® Processor X5670 (2.93GHz, 256KB L2 cache per core, 12MB L3 cache per
processor—12 cores/2 chips/6 cores per chip) and 24GB of memory, and ran WebSphere Application
Server V7, IBM J9 Java™6 Runtime Environment, and Novell SUSE Linux® Enterprise Server 10
SP3. An IBM System x3650 M2 system was used as the database server, which used two quad-core
Intel Xeon X5570 (2.93GHz) processors and ran IBM DB2 9.7 Enterprise Server and Novell SUSE
Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP2.
The IBM BladeCenter HS22 offers excellent performance balanced with flexible configuration options
and simple management in an efficient server designed to run a broad range of workloads, including
infrastructure, virtualization, and enterprise applications. An extensive choice of processors, memory,
internal storage, and I/O options allows flexible configurations.
The SPECjEnterprise2010 benchmark is a full system benchmark that allows performance
measurement and characterization of JEE 5.0 servers and supporting infrastructure such as JVM,
database, processors, disk and servers. The benchmark workload emulates an automobile
dealership, manufacturing, supply chain management (SCM) and order/inventory system. The
performance metric is Enterprise jAppServer Operations Per Second (SPECjEnterprise2010 EJOPS),
which is calculated by adding the metrics of the dealership management application in the dealer
domain and the manufacturing application in the manufacturing domain. For a complete description of
the benchmark, go to http://www.spec.org/jEnterprise2010/.
