    • Analog recording of signals input to the AVR-1603 in digital format is not possible. To record in analog, also connect the analog signals of the player to the AVR-1603’s analog input terminals.

    • TUNER can be operated when the switch is at “AUDIO” position. Preset memory DENON and other makes of components can be operated by setting the preset memory. This remote control unit can be used to operate components of other manufacturers without using the learning function by registering the manufacturer of the component as shown on the List of Preset Codes (pages 192~194).

    Punch Through • “Punch Through” is a function allowing you to operate the PLAY, STOP, MANUAL SEARCH and AUTO SEARCH buttons on the CD, TAPE, CDR/MD, DVD/VDP or VCR components when in the DBS/CABLE or TV mode. By default, nothing is set. Set mode switch 1 to “VIDEO”.

    14 DSP SURROUND SIMULATION • This unit is equipped with a high performance DSP (Digital Signal Processor) which uses digital signal processing to synthetically recreate the sound field. One of 7 preset surround modes can be selected according to the program source and the parameters can be adjusted according to the conditions in the listening room to achieve a more realistic, powerful sound.

    As seen from above Surround The AVR-1603 is equipped with a digital signal processing circuit that lets you play program sources in the surround mode to achieve the same sense of presence as in a movie theater. Dolby Surround (1) Dolby Digital (Dolby Surround AC-3) Dolby Digital is the multi-channel digital signal format developed by Dolby Laboratories.

    Before playing DTS signals for the first time, turn down the master volume to a low level, start playing the DTS disc, then check whether the DTS indicator on the AVR-1603 (see page 19) lights before turning up the master volume.
