60 watts, this port keeps the device functioning but does not charge it. If the source is connected to an external power supply, the UCS SW 313 does not send power to it. HDMI input — Connect an HDMI (or DVI with appropriate adapters) video input source to these female HDMI ports for HDMI video with embedded audio.

This can be done via SIS commands (see Auto-switching). NOTE: While the UCS SW 313 is in any auto-switch mode, inputs can still be manually selected via front panel buttons or SIS. This allows the user to switch to any input during usage and not rely on auto-switching.
  • Page 23: Auto-Switching

Auto-switch Modes The UCS SW 313 switchers provide three auto switch modes, which can be selected via SIS commands (see the Auto-switch Mode commands on page 26) and PCS (see the UCS SW 313 and UCS 303 Help File).

EDID Minder The UCS SW 313 uses EDID Minder to ensure that a source device connected to the switcher input continuously sees the EDID of a sink device, even when the input is not selected or the sink is not physically connected. As a result, the video source powers up properly and outputs content when selected.
  • Page 26: Hdcp

    • Automatic — By monitoring the EDID of the sink, the UCS SW 313 switcher determines the best color depth that is supported by the sink. If the color bit depth of the signal is supported, the signal passes unaltered. If the color bit depth is not supported, then the signal is truncated to the maximum supported by the sink.

Ethernet to RS-232 insertion (see Ethernet to RS-232 Insertion) — A control signal conveying commands from a control device such as an IPCP 250 is applied to the UCS SW 313 LAN port, then routed to the Display RS-232 port. The RS-232 commands are inserted onto the cable connecting the Display RS-232 port to a display.
  • Page 28: Ethernet To Rs-232 Insertion

Configure this type of insertion as follows: 1. Connect a cable from the control system to the LAN port of the UCS SW 313, directly or via a network. 2. If necessary to match the device to be controlled, configure the RS-232 port protocol (baud rate, parity, data bits, and stop bits) using PCS (see the UCS SW 313 and UCS 303 Help File).
  • Page 29: Captive Screw Signal Insertion

2069 Ethernet 9600 The insertion port number can be changed using PCS (see the UCS SW 313 and UCS 303 Help File for the procedure). Captive Screw Signal Insertion Figure 13 shows an example of a typical captive screw Ethernet insertion, in which a computer running PCS provides control of a display via the UCS SW 313.

When the switcher determines that a command is valid, it executes the command and sends a response to the host device. Responses from the UCS SW 313 to the host computer end with a carriage return and a line feed (CR/LF = ]), which signals the end of the response character string.
