Special Care Water Spotting and Stains Water spotting is a common problem for sinks, more so in areas with ‘hard’ water. This spotting is simply mineral left behind when the water evaporates, mainly lime scale. Most stains are caused by discoloration sticking to lime scale.
Things to Avoid To maintain your stainless steel sink effectively, it's important to avoid harsh cleaners such as powdered abrasives, undiluted ammonia or bleach, alcohol-based, acidic, oven, or alkaline cleaners. Should they come into contact with the sink, rinse immediately to prevent corrosion. Use only non-scratch cleaning pads and avoid abrasive pads, steel wool, or wire brushes.
