    About your system The Dell XC730xd-12C system is web-scale converged appliance based on the Dell PowerEdge R730xd that supports one Intel Xeon E5-2620 v3 processor, and 12 hard drives or solid-state drives (SSDs). NOTE: The systems support only internal drives 32 GB RAM.

    Enables you to enter PXE boot About System Setup Using System Setup, you can configure the BIOS settings, iDRAC settings, and device settings of your system. NOTE: There are a several generic server settings that appear during system setup that do not apply to this system, such as RAID or UEFI.

    The iDRAC Settings utility is an interface to set up and configure the iDRAC parameters by using UEFI. You can enable or disable various iDRAC parameters by using the iDRAC Settings utility.     Editing boot settings screen You can use the Boot Settings screen to set the Boot mode to either BIOS or UEFI. It also allows you to specify the boot order. Go to System Setup Main Menu, and then click System BIOS. On the System BIOS screen, click Boot Settings.

    Table 20. Serial communication Menu Item Description Serial Communication Selects serial communication devices (Serial Device 1 and Serial Device 2) in the BIOS. This is where you can select BIOS console redirection and specify the port address. By default, Serial Communication option is set to Auto.
  • Page 35 Custom, the BIOS automatically sets the rest of the options. You can only change the rest of the options if the mode is set to Custom. By default, the System Profile option is set to Performance Per Watt Optimized (DAPC). DAPC is Dell Active Power Controller.

    Editing miscellaneous settings You can use the Miscellaneous Settings screen to perform some configurations such as updating the asset tag, and changing the system date and time. Go to System Setup Main Menu, and then click System BIOS. On the System BIOS screen, click Miscellaneous Settings. The Miscellaneous Settings screen displays.

    Launch System Allows you to access the System Setup. Setup Launch Lifecycle Closes the Boot Manager and invokes the Dell Lifecycle Controller program. Controller System Utilities Opens system utilities menu such as system diagnostics and UEFI shell. Changing the boot order You may have to change the boot order if you want to boot from a USB key or an optical drive.

    NOTE: Operating systems must be UEFI-compatible to be installed from the UEFI boot mode. DOS and 32-bit operating systems do not support UEFI and can only be installed from the BIOS boot mode.
