    Started Getting MOVI-PLC The MOVI-PLC is part of the MOVIPRO ADC drive inverter, a compact drive and positioning inverter.     Getting Started The MOVIPRO ADC architecture is illustrated in the following figure. Figure 1-3 MOVIPRO ADC Architecture MOVI-PLC Software ® The MOVITOOLS MotionStudio software is used to create a project and manage connections and parameter sets for the MOVI-PLC. The MultiMotion program is an add-on to MOVITOOLS MotionStudio. It is a parameter-driven software platform that is used to configure the MOVI-PLC.
  • Page 8 Started Getting Make sure the IP addresses of the computer and the MOVI-PLC are in the same subnet. The default IP address of the MOVI-PLC is 192.168.10.5. This means the IP address of the computer should be set to 192.168.10.XX. Power up the MOVI-PLC.

    Configuring the MOVI-PLC This chapter describes how to create a project and configure the MOVI-PLC. The MotionStudio Main Window The instructions in this chapter refer the MotionStudio main window. This window contains the Project view and the Network view. Figure 2-1 MotionStudio Main Window The Project view contains all of the configured units in a logical hierarchy.

    the MOVI-PLC Configuring The Network view displays all of the units with a communication link. This view illustrates the topology of the network and its units. Creating a Project Before you can configure the MOVI-PLC, you must create a project. To do so, complete the following steps: Start MotionStudio.
  • Page 11 MOVI-PLC Configuring the Select the New Project radio button and click OK. The New Project window is displayed. Enter a project name. Enter a target directory or navigate to a directory on the network. Optionally, enter an author and description. Click OK to create the new project.

    the MOVI-PLC Configuring Configuring a Communication Channel Once a project is created, you should configure the communication channel between the PC and the MOVI-PLC. To do so, complete the following steps: Click the Choose Connection Mode and Create Network tab. Click the Configure Communications Connections button.

The dialog box will differ based on the communication type that was selected. Click the Network Adapter button. The Select Network Adapter dialog box is displayed.

The new connection(s) appears in the Network view. Scanning the Network Once you have configured the communication channel, you need to scan the network to find the MOVI-PLC.

Copying Configuration Settings Before you can configure the MOVI-PLC, you need to copy the configuration settings from the MOVI-PLC to the MotionStudio project. To do so, complete the following steps: Drag and drop the MOVI-PLC icon from the Network view to the Project view.

    the MOVI-PLC Configuring Note: By default, the configuration is copied to the Documents\Directory\SEW\ MotionStudio\Project folder. When the upload is finished, click OK. The MOVI-PRO device and axis devices appear in the Project view. Configuring the MOVI-PLC You'll use the MultiMotion program to configure the MOVI-PLC. To do so, complete the following steps: Right click the unit in the Network view and select Technology Editors | MultiMotion from the context menu.

To download the updated configuration to the MOVI-PLC, complete the following steps: In MotionStudio, right click the MOVI-PLC and select Manage Component | Download (PC - - unit).

    Preventive Maintenance Routine Inspection It is recommended that you check the following parts of the MOVIPRO regularly: Part Inspection Connection Cables If cables are damaged or worn, replace them immediately. Cooling Fins Remove any deposits to ensure sufficient cooling. Fan Assembly If a fan assembly is installed, check the individual axial fans to ensure they are working properly.

    Maintenance Preventive Unscrew the memory card cover and remove the SD memory card. Unscrew the memory card cover on the new unit and insert the memory card from the old unit. Install the new unit in the system and connect it to the power supply. Switch on the new unit.
