About this document This addendum provides information about IPv6 network protocol support and saving/restoring the autoloader configuration, which was added to the Autoloader after the HP StorageWorks 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloader User and service guide (part number AK377–96001) on the documentation CD was written. It also provides additional details about the wellness test and sequential mode. -

Configuring the network with the RMI Once the Autoloader is accessible over the network, you can configure additional network features from the RMI. Some network features, such as SNMP, HTTPS, and IPv6 can only be configured from the RMI. Configuration: Network Use the Configuration: Network page to see and modify the current network configuration. - Page 5 You may change the: • Protocol Stack — selects the Internet Protocols that will be enabled. Select the IPv4 protocol, the IPv6 protocol, or both IPv4 and IPv6 protocols. The default is the IPv4 protocol. • Hostname — enter the hostname provided by your network administrator for the Autoloader. •...

Configuration: Network Management Use the Configuration: Network Management page to enable and configure SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), which allows applications such as HP Systems Insight Manager (http://www.hp.com/products/SystemInsightManager) to manage the device. The device supports both SNMP configuration and SNMP traps. SNMP can only be configured with the RMI; it cannot be configured with the OCP. - Page 7 Autoloader modes The Autoloader supports three behavior modes: Random, Sequential, and Automatic. Choose the operating mode based on the capabilities of the software controlling the tape cartridges. Random mode: In Random mode, the device does not automatically load tapes into the tape drives; it waits for commands from the software or operator to load and unload tapes.

Page 8: Wellness Test
Wellness test The Wellness test exercises all Autoloader and tape drive hardware, except the external connections, and is useful for verifying that a device is working correctly. The Wellness test requires operator interaction with the mailslot so cannot be initiated from the RMI. For complete testing, enable the mailslot and ensure that each corner slot contains a tape cartridge.
