If the outboard motor was submerged Step 2 – Draining fuel 3. Loosen the vapor separator drain bolt. As the fuel flows out, tilt up the outboard motor. 4. Place a drain pan under the drain tube. Catch the petrol in the drain pan.

If the outboard motor was submerged Step 4 – Lubricating the engine cylinder 8. Remove the emergency stop switch clip. Remove the spark plug. 10. Operate the starter to expel water from the engine cylinder.

If the outboard motor was submerged 11. Put a teaspoon of engine oil into each spark plug hole to lubricate the inside of the cylinders. Reinstall the spark plugs. 12. Install the engine cover and lock the latch securely. 13. Attempt to start the engine. If the engine fails to start, remove the spark plugs, clean and dry the electrodes, then reinstall the spark plugs and attempt to start the engine again.

Emergency gear shifting (DBW types) If the gear cannot be shifted, try following procedure to shift the gear manually. If the shift operation can be performed, return to your base at possible engine speed. 1. Set the shift lever or remote control lever to the neutral position.
