Seismic GM760
Issue:
If the test input is activated on a GM760 and there is no GMXS1 connected, the detector will
become very sensitive on the integration alarm and on the shock alarm.
The was highlighted through one of our customers, who had incorrectly wired the test input on
the GM760 detector which made it active and in turn causing false alarms.
The application was a computer room with a high background noise level due to AC units and
computer cooling systems.
Verification:
A GM760, with the test input active & no GMXS1 connected, was monitored through heo
Senstool and left running for 18 hours in an office environment without any alarms.
Comparison tests with the test input active and in the normal, off, state was conducted and
confirmed that the detector becomes verity sensitive, to the point that an integration alarm
could be generated by gently touching the base of the detector with a screwdriver.
Refer to image 2.
Note: this has been verified both with the GM760 and the GM730 detectors, but we can
assume is that this will apply to all seismic detectors, as the test input has the same behaviour
on all devices

Refer below for additional information. The Error Traps Error trap #1 As indicated in the above site report, the detectors can always be connected incorrectly, this is difficult for us to control but we should always ask if there is a connection into terminal 4.
