Headunit
The headunit is located in the vehicle dashboard.

Display
The display is located in the vehicle dashboard. It does not have any controls.

Basic operations
Selecting a menu item

  • Turn or push until the desired menu item is highlighted.
  • To confirm a selection:
    Press.

  • With the content area active (blue frame around), push once . You can now select and confirm further menu items.

Audio settings
Opening the Audio Settings menu

  • In a main menu (here Disc), select Settings.
  • If an audio/video selection menu is displayed, select Audio.

Setting the balance/fader

  • In the Audio Settings menu, select Balance/ Fader.
  • To switch between Balance and Fader, press .
    The previously inactive function is now active.
  • To set a value:
    Turn until the desired setting is reached.
    The system saves the setting automatically.

Setting the treble/mid/bass

  • In the Audio Settings menu, select Treble/Mid/ Bass . The Treble/Mid/Bass menu is displayed in the content area.
  • Activating a scale: Press or push repeatedly until the desired scale is active.
  • To set a value: Turn until the desired setting is reached. The indicator moves accordingly on the scale, showing you the setting.

Setting the equalizer

  • In the Audio Settings menu, select EQ Presets .
    In the content area, the Equalizer menu is displayed.
  • To activate a preset: Select the desired preset.
    The Equalizer menu is automatically closed after a short time.

Switching surround on/off

  • In the Audio Settings menu, select Surround .
    Depending on the previous status, the function will be switched on or off.

FM and AM mode

HD Radio (TM) information

informationThe Driver Information System is able to receive standard analog FM/AM radio broadcasting as well as digital HD Radio TM FM/AM broadcasting.
HD Radio TM is a technology to carry digital broadcasting as well as analog one using existing FM and AM broadcasting frequencies
HD Radio TM is available in the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii.

Opening the FM or AM main menu or switching bands

  • Press .

Tuning to a station via the station list

  • To open the Options menu: Push once .
    The Options menu appears.
  • To start the Scan function: Select Scan .
  • To stop the Scan function manually: Press .

Tuning to a station via manual tuning or a search

  • Press .
  • Select Tune & Seek .
    The indicator shows either HD, HD 1 , HD 2 , MHz or kHz .
  • To tune manually: Turn.
    The frequency increases or decreases, depending on the direction of rotation.
  • To search: Push .
    The seek proceeds upwards or downwards and stops at the next receivable station.

informationXM ® Satellite radio offers the reception of a wide range of programs, e.g. music, sports, news - all in digital quality.
XM ® Satellite Radio is available in the United States (including Alaska and Hawaii) and Canada.

Storing channels

  • Tune to a desired channel
  • In the XM® Satellite Radio main menu, select Presets.
    The presets appear.
  • To select a preset: Turn until the desired preset number is highlighted.
  • To store the currently tuned station in the selected preset: Press and hold until the station is stored.

Tuned channel must not be stored in the presets. All channel memories must be occupied. The sixth station must be highlighted, see example picture below from the FM/AM chapter.

Loading a disc

    The system will prompt you to insert a disc with the message Please insert Disc.
  • Insert a disc into the slot.

Ejecting the last disc played

  • Briefly press .
    The system will eject the disc last played.
  • Remove the disc from the slot.

  • To start forwarding/ reversing: Select FF or REW . Then press and hold .

  • Select Repeat Track or Repeat Folder .

  • In the Disc main menu, select Settings.
    An audio/video selection menu appears with the following menu items:

      In the Video Settings menu, you can select Aspect Ratio, Brightness, Color, Contrast or Reset Video Settings.
    • Menu Language .
  • Call the desired function and turn until the desired setting is reached.
    The system saves this setting automatically.
  • To close a menu: Press , or press .

Native DVD menu
The native DVD menu includes the following functions:

  • Returning to video fullscreen display
  • DVD top menu/DVD menu which is part of the DVD itself.
  • Chapter list
  • Selecting titles On-screen menu
  • Switching audio track
  • Switching viewing angle

Example: Selecting titles

  • In the native DVD menu, select Title List .
    The title list appears.
  • Select the desired title or movie.

Connecting a device

Connecting an iPod ®

  • Connect an iPod ®.
    Playback will start with the first track in the "Songs" category.

Connecting an USB

  • Connect an USB memory stick containing audio files.
    Open the AUX main menu and, if necessary, select the USB stick as the signal source.
    Starting playback.

Connecting an AUX source

  • Connect an AUX (audio/ video) signal source.
  • If necessary, select the desired signal source in the AUX main menu.
  • Start playback on the AUX signal source.

Phone

Pairing a mobile phone
informationA precondition for pairing and connecting is that Bluetooth® is activated on the mobile phone.

  • Press until the Phone main menu appears.
  • Select Connect Phone.
    The device list appears. Select Pair Phone.
    The Bluetooth® name of the Driver Information System is GENESIS, it is displayed under this name on the mobile phone.
  • Start pairing on the mobile phone. When prompted, enter the passkey "1234".
    The system will start the process of connecting with the mobile phone.
    = No connection
    = A mobile phone is connected

Connecting a mobile phone
After the system is switched on, it automatically attempts to reconnect with the last mobile phone connected. The following conditions must be met for this:

  • The mobile phone is switched on and is within the reception range of the system.
  • The mobile phone is still paired with the system.
  • Bluetooth® is activated on the mobile phone.
  • In the Settings menu, Bluetooth Autoconnect is activated =

  • Press once or twice until the Phone main menu appears.

Initiating/canceling a call
Entering a phone number

  • Open the Phone main menu.
  • Select Dial Number.
    The input menu appears. This has two user-control areas: The area with the predictive speller and the area with , and .
  • To move from one area to another: Push .
  • To enter a number: In the predictive speller, highlight a digit by turning and press .
    The digit is entered and appears in input field .
  • To initiate a call: From the predictive speller, push and select CALL.
  • To cancel a call: Press .

Using call lists

  • In the Phone main menu, select one of Missed Calls Received Calls or Dialed Numbers .
    The appropriate call list appears.
  • To initiate a call: Select the desired entry in the call list.

Accepting/rejecting an incoming call
The call menu is displayed when there is a call incoming.

  • Select Accept or Reject .
    When you accept the call you conduct it over the hands-free unit.

Ending a call
In the call menu, select END

Phonebook
Calling up the phonebook

  • In the Phone main menu, select Phone Book .
    The phonebook appears.

The following functions are now available:

  • Creating a new entry
  • Editing an entry
  • Searching for an entry
  • Displaying details on an entry
  • Initiating a call to an entry
  • Deleting an entry

  • Ed Address Book for editing destination memory entries
  • Settings for general basic settings

Entering destinations
Entering a destination via the address and street number

  • In the Navigation main menu, select Destination .
    A selection list appears.
  • Select Address .
    The address input menu appears. Enter now all address categories (state, street, city, etc.) successively.
  • To enter a character: In the predictive speller, highlight a character and press .
    The character is entered and appears in the input field.
  • To delete characters: Select or .
  • To complete an entry: If OK is highlighted, press .
  • If prompted, select an entry in the hit list .

Entering a POI destination 1
informationThe following example selects a POI destination via a vicinity search.

Opening the POI menu

  • Press .
  • Press .
    The Options menu appears.
  • Select Display POI Icons.
    The POI menu appears.
  • Activate or deactivate POI categories.

  • Enter a state/province as with entering an address.
  • Enter a POI name and push to complete it.
    You will see the POI list.
  • Select an entry in the list.

Entering the destination via the destination memory

  • In the Navigation main menu, select Destination .
  • Select Address Book .
    The Address Book appears.
  • Select one of the following destination memory categories:
    • Home , Work , Favourite Point 1 , Favourite Point 2 Favourite Point 3 , Favorite Point 4
    • Address List
      informationIf a category does not yet contain at least 1 destination, then that respective category cannot be selected.
  • Select a list entry.

    The map appears.

  • Select Suspend Guidance or Resume Guidance.

Changing the route

  • Select Reroute.
    The Route menu appears,
    = current active route.
  • Select one of the alternative routes.
    The system calculates the new route.

Waypoints
Opening the waypoint menu

  • In the Navigation main menu, select Change Route .
    The Waypoint menu appears. The following functions now are available:
    • Add Waypoint
    • Change Route for changing the order of the destinations
    • Show on Map for showing destinations in the map
    • Delete or Delete All for deleting waypoints or main destinations
    • Reroute for blocking a route section

Blocking a route section
informationThe system calculates a detour route if possible.

  • In the Options menu, select Reroute .
  • Select one of the following menu items:
    • Detour 2 km
    • Detour 5 km
    • Detour 10 km

  2. Waypoints (Icons )

Audible driving recommendations

  • Press and hold until the Navigation main menu appears.
  • Select Settings .
  • Select Voice Guidance .

Setting the volume

  • Select Adjust Volume .
  • Turn until the desired setting is reached.
    The system saves this setting automatically.

Muting

  • Select Mute Voice Guidance .

  • Press .

  • In the Navigation main menu, select Ed Address Book.
  • Select one of the menu items:
    • Set Home, Set Work, Set Favourite Point 1, Set Favourite Point 2, Set Favourite Point 3. or Set Favorite Point 4. or
    • Address List followed by Add Address

Options for entering or selecting a destination

  • Address
  • Phone Number
  • POI Name Search (nationwide) Facility
  • GEO Data
  • Previous Start Point , Previous Destinations or Marked Points
    (all the destinations already saved in the destination memory)
  • MAP

Saving the destination

  • In the Options menu, select one of Set Home, Set Work, Set Favourite Point 1, Set Favourite Point 2, Set Favourite Point 3, Set Favorite Point 4 or Add Address.
    The destination is saved.

Example of setting function: Displaying navigation information

  • Select Navi Information .
    informationAdequate GPS reception must be available for the displays and .

  1. Current vehicle speed
  2. Geo-coordinates of the current vehicle position
  3. Current vehicle position in metres above sea level
  4. GPS reception quality
  5. Version number of the digital map

Settings menu

  • In the Navigation main menu, select Settings .
  • The Settings menu appears.
    You can access the following setting functions:
    • Setting the volume of the audible driving recommendations
    • Map display settings Traffic information settings
    • Estimated time of arrival settings
    • Avoid Area settings
    • Displaying navigation information
    • Reset function
  • To close the Information menu: Press .

Calling up the map display

  • Press .
    The map display appears.
  • Press .
    The Options menu appears.
  • Select Map View .
    The Map Main Settings menu appears.

Switching the map orientation
informationThe map is oriented to the north or the direction of travel.

  • Select North Up View or Heading Up .

Map display settings

  • In the Navigation main menu, select Settings .
  • Select Map Display .
    A list appears in which you can activate, deactivate and switch various functions.

  1. Currently set map orientation
  2. Current time
  3. Distance/direction indicator
  4. Audible driving recommendations are muted
  5. Current vehicle position
  6. Voice control system is active
  7. Estimated time of arrival
  8. Display for GPS reception (blue lettering = reception is o.k.)

  1. Information on the crosshairs position
  2. Crosshairs
  3. Current vehicle position
  4. Distance and direction as the crow flies from vehicle position to crosshairs position
  5. Currently set map scale

Information on the current vehicle position

  • Press .
    You will see an information display at the top, if the digital map contains corresponding data.

Moving the map/setting the map scale

  • To activate scroll mode: Push or .
    If the map was previously in position mode, it will switch to scroll mode and you will see a crosshairs.
  • To move the map: Push and hold or .
    The map moves accordingly.
  • To set the map scale: Turn until the desired scale is reached.
  • To set the map to the vehicle position: Press .
    The crosshairs disappear. The map is automatically set to the current vehicle position and is in position mode.

Operating language
The voice control system can be operated in English language no matter, which system language is set in the System settings.

Help function (teleprompter)
informationThe help function comprises an acoustic help component and a visual help component, also called teleprompter. The help function can be activated at any time using the command "Help", or it is automatically activated as soon as the system does not receive a proper a voice input

Example FM/AM
Calling the FM or AM tuner

  • Press on the steering wheel and say " Radio on after the signal tone.
    The FM or AM main menu appears on the display. The last selected station is played.

Tuner mode help

  • Calling the tuner mode help: Press on the steering wheel and say " Radio commands " after the signal tone.
    The teleprompter is opened. You hear all the commands available for FM, AM or XM ® tuner mode.

  • Press and say " Phone on " after the signal tone.
    The Phone mode main menu appears on the display.

Dialing a number

  • Say " Dial number " to dial a phone number.
  • Use the numbers "zero" to "nine" to enter the number.

Operating picklists
The voice control system can display picklists to you on the screen, for example the channel list in the XM® tuner mode.

Scrolling through a picklist
You can scroll through any picklist using the commands
"Next page", "Previous page", "Back", "First Page" or "Last Page".

Selecting an entry in a picklist
Within picklists, you have the following two options for selecting an entry:

  • Say the contents as they are displayed in the row.
    or
  • Say "Entry...(1-8)".

Info main menu

  • Press once or twice until the Info main menu appears.

Available submenus and functions

  • Climate: shows information such as exterior temperature or the fan setting.
  • Trip Info: shows information such as the distance covered and the average speed.
  • Vehicle Height: shows the current vehicle height setting.
  • Suspension Info: shows the suspension hardness setting.
  • Car Settings: include information like Auto Door Lock or Key Activate Alarm.
  • System Settings: include information such as Language or LCD Brightness

Rear camera

  1. Green line
  2. Yellow line
  3. Red line

The three lines are showing the following distances, each measured from the rear bumper:
Red line = 50 cm (1.64 ft)
Yellow line = 100 cm (3.28 ft)
Green line = more than 100 cm (3.28 ft)

General operation
Switching the rear camera view on

  • Switch the gear in the position of R.
    The display of the Driver Information System will switch to the rear camera view.

Switching the camera view off

  • Switch the gear to any position except of R.
    The display will return to the normal view.
