Areas of application The power supply is intended for use in electronic circuits, laboratories, educational institutions and development environ- ments. It is used to safely provide direct current for a variety of low-voltage applications. Required knowledge and skills Using the power supply requires basic knowledge of electrical engineering. Users should be able to safely assemble and ope- rate electrical circuits and take the necessary safety precautions.

Make sure the power supply is adequately ventilated during operation and monitor the temperature regularly. Caution: High temperatures can significantly shorten the lifespan of the power supply and connected devices. Note: Only operate the power supply within the recommended ambient temperatures (0°C to 40°C). Caution: Overheated components can cause fires. Note: Avoid use in direct sunlight or near heat sources.

A buck converter or the step down converter is a DC to DC power converter which steps down voltage from its input to its output while stepping up the current. It is a type of switched-mode power supply typically containing at least two semiconductors (a diode and a transistor), and at least one energy storage element, a capacitor or a inductor, or the two in combination.
» Internal Optimized Power MOSFET » Excellent line and load regulation The heart of this converter is the XL4015 integrated circuit, made by XLSEMI ("Shanghai Xinlong Semiconductor Technology Co.") The XL4015 integrated circuit is a 180kHz fixed frequency PWM* buck, or a step-down, DC to DC converter, capable of driving a 5A load with high efficiency, low ripple and excellent line and load regulation.

Pinout of the converter There is one indicator LED onboard this converter that turns on when the converter is powered. As you can see on the images, there is a big coil onboard. Coils are big producers of the electromagnetic noise. Take this into consideration when you are designing the circuits that use radio signals, because this electromagnetic noise is a big source of reading errors.

Connecting the converter with other devices To connect the buck converter with any other device, first you have to set-up the output voltage of the converter to fit the needs of the other device. If you do not do that, you could easily destroy a device that you are connecting the converter to.
