  • Page 8: Operation Principle Of Hydraulic End

1.4 Operation principle of hydraulic end The crosshead of the pump connects the plunger and drive end together, so the pump has a consistent reciprocating linear stroke. During the suction stroke, the drawing action of the plunger generates certain space of vacuum, which absorbs corresponding volume of liquid into the pump cavity through the suction valve unit;...

  • Page 10: Suction Pipeline

    ● When installing suction and discharge pipelines, a section of detachable pipe shall be kept for conve- nience of easy maintenance. Suction pipeline Install a filter with a mesh no less than 50. The more sophisticated filter may be required in specific ap- plication.

centerline (E. g. the pressure generated by the difference in height between the liquid surface of container and the pump centerline). Any system without a high enough allowable NPSHa value will result in pump cavitation. The common manifestation of cavitation involves noise, metal surface erosion and system vibration. Cavitation occurs when pump suction pressure lowers and approximates to the saturated vapor pressure of the medium that varies along with the changes of temperature.

  • Page 16: Packing Change

4.2 Packing change V-ring packing of special material is very durable, usually serving for more than one year in case of con- veying clean medium. However, as for preventative maintenance, it is recommended to replace the packing and suction and outlet valves every year. During packing changing, there is no need to disassemble the pump head or pipeline but to take down the stuffing box from the middle section of the drive box body.
