2 OVERVIEW
DESCRIPTION
The ThermoDrive Trough Converter is designed to provide components to quickly and simply
upgrade an existing tensioned, flat belt, troughed conveyor for use with tensionless ThermoDrive
technology. It can also be used for new conveyor installation.
Components include, at least, a set of universal carryway brackets, steel rods, T-shape wearstrips
for belt support and containment, and a wearstrip notching kit. Additional conveyor components
can also be purchased. Individual component specifications and quantity are based on conveyor
features and dimensions requested in the audit form.
Instructions provided here address most common applications for the Trough Converter. For
application or conveyor-specific information, contact Intralox Customer Service.
SPECIFICATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS
CONVEYOR REQUIREMENTS
• The frame has a center-mounted carryway support that is round or square (at a 45° angle).
• The application is compatible with a curved trough shape.
• The conveyor general design follows most design guidelines provided in the Intralox Ther-
moDrive Technology Engineering Manual.
• The conveyor length is compatible with the belt strength.
BELT REQUIREMENTS
• The belt width is a minimum of 10 in (254 mm) and a maximum of 42 in (1067 mm).
• The belt is any style of Series 8026 or 8050.
• The belt can have full-length drive bars, trough grooves, or drive bar removal.
• The belt can be spliced. The trough converter is not compatible with ThermoLace™ or met-
al lace belts.
CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES
The customer is responsible for installing components based on installation instructions in this
manual and the Intralox ThermoDrive Technology Engineering Manual design guidelines.
