  • Page 11 2 OVERVIEW 2 OVERVIEW DESCRIPTION The ThermoDrive Trough Converter is designed to provide components to quickly and simply upgrade an existing tensioned, flat belt, troughed conveyor for use with tensionless ThermoDrive technology. It can also be used for new conveyor installation.

  • Page 16 NOTE: This spacing simplifies and maximizes wearstrip use. Assess each bracket mark location. Ensure that there are no obstacles near the carryway sup- port to prevent bracket installation. If obstacles exist, see “Troubleshooting” on page 29.   • Page 19 ASSESS CONVEYOR END CARRYWAY WEARSTRIP PLACEMENT Determine the distance required from the drive end wearstrip to the drive shaft and the idle end wearstrip to the idle shaft. See “Conveyor Frame Dimension Guidelines” in the ThermoDrive Technology Engineering Manual at www.intralox.com for the related measurements.
  • Page 20 Where at least five (5) trough brackets exist between the drive and idle end wearstrips, install wearstrips until there are less than five (5) brackets between wearstrip ends.   • Page 23 Calculate the Quantity to Cut for each wearstrip length in the primary and secondary pattern. Calculate the Quantity to Cut Quantity to Cut = Quantity x Multiplier (PM for primary pattern or SM for secondary pattern) NOTE: See Appendix A-Quick Reference for examples of carryway patterns and calculations.   • Page 26 Ensure that wearstrips are properly aligned with the notches before striking with the hammer. Installing mis- aligned wearstrip into bracket notches can damage wearstrips.   • Page 29 NOTE: To lower wearstrips up to 0.5 in (13 mm) near the drive or idle shaft, see “Wearstrip Notching Procedures” on page 30. CARRYWAY AND RETURNWAY COMPONENTS Install returnway components like shafts, support rails, rollers, and shoes. See the Intralox ThermoDrive Technology Engineering Manual at www.intralox.com for design guidelines. Inspect the carryway and returnway for possible belt catch points.

Test run the belt to find any potential catch or drag points, such as existing chutes, standoffs, or drip pans.

WEARSTRIP NOTCHING PROCEDURES Install the wearstrip notching drill bit onto a facility-approved drill.

NOTE: Notches can be as deep as the stopper on the provided drill bit—approximately 0.5 in (13 mm) deep.
