The supply to the metering equipment should be isolated prior to installation or removal. On a simple level, EDMI smart meters are energy meters, measuring the basic quantities of Wh and varh. The meter records consumption data in a load survey, and as time of use data. The meter can also measure a wide variety of instantaneous quantities.
2 Mk7Mi Meter This chapter covers the basic installation and physical features of the Mk7Mi meter. 2.1 Dimensions and Mounting Figure 2.1 show a general view of the Mk7Mi meter fitted with a terminal cover. Figure 2.1 Mk7Mi Meter Mk7Mi Energy Meter...
Figure 2.2 below gives detailed dimensions for the meter when using the standard terminal cover. Figure 2.2 Mk7Mi with Standard Terminal Cover 2.1.1 Hanging Extension The meter’s top mounting hole can be extended beyond the top of the meter using an extension clip-on.
4. Insert the remaining two screws (meter base, under the terminal cover) to hold the meter securely. EDMI recommends at least 2cm of air clearance from the Mk7Mi to the meter cabinet or other equipment. Nearby heat-generating equipment should be located such that no equipment’s ambient temperature limit is exceeded.
2.2 External Features Below figure shows a view of the front of the meter (the specifics of a given label will vary). Figure 2.5 Mk7Mi Front View with Terminal Cover Fitted The major parts visible in above figure include: •...
All of the connections to the meter occur under the terminal cover. figures 2.7 shows the terminals available on a meter with 1 I/O(Optional, up to 3) and RJ45. Figure 2.6 Terminal Block View (after removing Terminal Cover of Meter) Mk7Mi Energy Meter PAGE 12 OF 30...

Meters fitted with serial comm have Tx, Rx and GND line, it is used with external serial device without handshaking signal. Optional 12V power, 6W supply can be fitted to power an external modem. This option is used to pair with EDMI certified cellular modem. RJ45 Pin...
Where frequent power outage is expected in the operating condition, EDMI recommend the meter to be fitted with both supercap and external battery, and supercap usage priority over battery to preserve the battery life for as long as possible.
The meter is not designed for field servicing and has no user-serviceable parts. EDMI does not allow any preventive and repair work to be done by external parties. All repair works for meters will be done at EDMI Service Centers. The meter has no internal fuses. For meter re-calibration or refurbishment, contact EDMI or a local agent.
3.1 Mk7Mi LCD Figure 3.1 Mk7Mi standard version LCD 3.1.1 Display Pages/Screens The meter displays data on the LCD as a series of pages or screens. Each screen of data shows a single quantity value from the meter.
Move from Set A to Set B by pressing and holding the Select button for one second. While in Set B, the meter will display the Set B LCD label (non-blinking). • Set C Mk7Mi Single Phase Meter Operation & Maintenance PAGE 21 OF 30 Manual...
If there is an LCD setup, the LCD will display the first display item in display set A when the meter is powered up. 3.2 Display Organisation Mk7Mi LCD display icons are described in the following table. LCD Icon Description Display Meter’s data in Main display area.
The meter can have 2 LEDs for meter firmware function. Usually one will be configurated as Alarm LED indicates Meter’s tamper / alarm condition depending on Meter’s configuration. Mk7Mi Single Phase Meter Operation & Maintenance PAGE 23 OF 30 Manual...
