Audio devices (such as MP3
players) or suitable media storage

devices (USB drives) can be con-
nected to the audio system via
the plugs in the stowage com-
partment. These plugs include
a 3.5 mm jack
a USB connection (supports
USB 1.1 and USB 2).
The audio device must
have a compatible connector
be stowable inside the stowage
compartment
be able to withstand vibrations
arising from normal motorcycle
use

be able to withstand the high
temperatures occurring inside
the stowage compartment in
summer.
Because of the increased
mechanical stress, certain
unsuitable audio devices may
be damaged, for which BMW
Motorrad accepts no liability.
Refer to the operating instruc-
tions of your audio device for any
possible usage restrictions.
BMW Motorrad advises against
using devices with hard disks as
media storage devices, as vibra-
tions may cause playback to skip
and may damage the device.
The audio system provides a
supply voltage via the USB plug,
though which it is possible to
charge mobile telephones and
other such devices. Connect-
ing several USB devices via a
hub is not possible as the supply
voltage is limited.

Use USB plug connection 1
to connect the audio device to
the audio system.
Connect an Apple iPod to the
audio system using the USB
plug 1 and the jack plug 2.
You can obtain the correct
adapter cable from your
BMW dealer.
Connect other audio devices
to the audio system and switch
on via the jack plug 2.
To stop it slipping, secure the
audio device in its slot 3 where
possible.
