This manual provides information on the installation and configuration of the module using the menu- driven interface via the Serial Console Port on the Network Management Module. For ongoing network management, Omnitron Systems recommends NetOutlook , an SNMP-based Network Management ®...
2.0 PORT STRUCTURE OVERVIEW The XGT+ front panel provides the access to the fiber and RJ-45 ports and DIP-switches. Front Panel FIBER PORT The XGT+ supports the following port configurations: XFP (8589N-1) The XGT+ model 8589N-1 supports 10G Ethernet standard, CWDM and high-power (power level 4) XFP transceivers, and the latest generation of wavelength tunable DWDM XFP transceivers.
3.2 CONFIGURING DIP-SWITCHES AND JUMPER The XGT+ has front-panel and board-mounted banks of DIP-switches. The locations of DIP-switch Bank 1 and Bank 2 are illustrated below. DIP-switch Locations 3.2.1 Board-Mounted Bank 1 Settings The functions of DIP-switch Bank 1 are described in the table below. DOWN Switch (Default) Normal...
3.2.1.4 SW4 - P1 BIST (SFP+ Model Only) When this DIP-switch is in the DOWN position (factory default), port P1 Built-In Self Test is disabled. When this DIP-switch is in the UP “P1-Tst” position, the port will transmit a Pseudo Random Bit Sequence (PRBS). When two XGT+ converters are connected via port P1 (Port 1 to Port 1), the BIST function is supported. The XGT+ initiating BIST (DIP-switch SW4 UP) will generate and send a PRBS pattern out Port 1 to the other module.
3.3 INSTALLING THE MODULE AND CONNECTING CABLES The XGT+ module must be installed using the following chassis configurations/guidelines: 19-Module High Airflow Chassis 8201-x (AC) or 8207-x (DC): Each 120W High Airflow power supply can support up to 6 iConverter modules installed in the chassis, and three of the six modules can be XGT+. The XGT+ modules must be installed directly in front of the installed High Airflow power supply and the slot on the right side of the installed XGT+ module must be empty.
VERIFY OPERATION Once the module has been installed and configured per steps 1 and 2, verify the module is operational by viewing the LED indicators. Legend OFF State Color ON/Blinking State Off – No power. Green Green – Power On Green Green Solid – Fiber link (signal detect). Off – No Transceiver detected P1 Lk Amber Blinking (1Hz) – Port is disabled due to installed transceiver...
3.5 CONFIGURING THE MODULE VIA NETWORK MANAGEMENT MODULE The XGT+ module must be installed in the same chassis as the Network Management Module (NMM2) or a media converter with integrated management (such as an iConverter GX/TM2 or NID) to configure, monitoring, and provide trap notifications. Management access is through the installed Management Module. The management module can be configured by attaching the serial port to a DB-9 serial (RS-232) equipped computer with terminal emulation software such as ProComm or Putty.
