Chapter 1 Package Content Open the box of the switch and carefully unpack it. The box should contain the following items: • Switch • Power Cord • RS-232 Cable • Rack-mounting kit • CD-ROM User’s Manual • This Quick Installation Guide If any item is found missing or damaged, please contact your local reseller for replacement.
Chapter 2 Stack Setup There are two RJ-45 ports on the front panel for proprietary management stack. Only straight-through UTP/STP cable can be used. Plug one end of the cable in the “IN” port and the other end to the ”OUT” port of next device.
Chapter 3 Terminal Setup If you have stacked several switches together, make sure you are working on Master switch (switch with least Switch NOTE: ID). Other slave switches’ management interface will not work. To configure the system, connect a serial cable to a COM port on a PC or notebook computer and to serial (console) port of the device.
Chapter 4 Logon to the Console Once the terminal has connected to the device, power on the device, the terminal will display that it is running testing procedures. Then, the following message asks the login user name and password. There are three system default accounts for different privilege levels: “root”: root can do any configuration includes changing password and enable/ disable management capability via console port.
Chapter 5 Configure IP address 1. Once log on to the console the following screen displayed. 2. Select “2. Management Setup” by pressing “2” and “Enter”. The following screen is shown. 3. Select “1. Network Configuration” by pressing “1” and “Enter”. The following screen is shown.

5. Select “1. Change IP address” to assign the IP address for the switch. Input the IP address you want to assign to this switch and then press “Enter”. 6. Repeat above procedure for “2. Change Subnet Mask” and “3. Change Default Gateway”.

9. However, the new IP settings are not saved yet. Please press “Esc” three times to return main menu. 10.Please then select “6. Save Runtime Configuration”. The following message will be shown. 11.Please input the switch ID of the switch which you want to save and press “En- ter”.
Chapter 6 Start Web Management The Web Interface of the switch is coded by Java Applet and running on the JavaTM Virtual Machine (JVM) version 1.3.1 platform. You should configure the management station with an IP address and subnet mask compatible with the switch for accessing it.

3. After the file download is completed, the following message is shown. Please click “Continue” to proceed. 4. The following web page is shown with all the switch(es) on the stack. Click the switch which you want to configure. 5. A web page similar to the following picture is then shown for allowing you to configure the switch.
